The Site WHS officer will be responsible for partnering with a site operations team in the Sort center to execute Amazon safety policies and ensure compliance to all applicable local and regional regulations. By leveraging lean principles and kaizens, this individual will lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risk in our processes to ensure a safe and healthful working environment for our Associates. The Site WHS officer must demonstrate the ability to build trust and confidence with the Operations Team and influence change through providing comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis. The Site WHS officer must be an effective communicator and send clear, concise and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing. This individual must instruct and train Operations Leaders in company safety policies and assist the operations site teams in incorporating our safety standards at their site. The Site WHS officer will be required to identify best practices and incorporate these best practices into our standards to continuously improve company safety policies. The Site WHS officer will be required to possess excellent safety program and relevant safety, environmental and ergonomic knowledge and demonstrates this expertise when working with Operations. This individual must create and execute leadership development plans for their Safety Associates on their team. They must communicate safety team expectations and give frequent and appropriate feedback to their safety teams and ensure they are executing to the core competencies of an Amazon safety professional.
Key job responsibilities
As WHS Officer, You will support an assigned site(s), coordinate and assist in the implementation of Amazon WHS procedures and programs as directed by WHS leadership, in alignment with policy and site goals. You will partner with the site stakeholders to drive compliance with relevant Amazon WHS standards, procedures and applicable local laws. You will play vital role in coaching associates on new and existing WHS requirements, including their impact on the site. You will partner with site operations and WHS leadership on tackling day to day risks, identify and escalate compliance risks and improvement opportunities through the completion of assigned routine inspections and audits. You will create actions where findings identified as a result of implementing this standard work. You will act as the proxy1 for the WHS Manager when assigned. You will fulfill the assigned tasks within this standard work as allocated by the WHS Manager, including additional tasks as stretch assignment. You must adhere to the scheduled shift in order to support site safety.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Experience with increasing responsibilities in safety and/or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations
- Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
- 1+ years of performance metrics, process improvement or lean techniques experience
- 2+ years of experience in manufacturing/supply chain
- Master's degree in Health and Safety or a related field
- 2+ years of supply chain experience
- Experience in people management and stakeholder management
