Job Title: Web Software Engineer (Vue.js focused)
Location: Remote
Contract Duration: 6-Month Contract role with potential extension based on performance and business requirements
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Web Software Engineer with strong hands-on experience in Vue.js to join our team. The ideal candidate will contribute to the internationalization of our core B2B automotive platformscaling support from two languages (US English and Canadian French) to 20+ languages across European markets, while ensuring compliance with GDPR and EU cookie consent requirements.
The candidate should be capable of contributing from day one without requiring ramp-up time on new frameworks. In addition to front-end expertise, they should have a basic understanding of Golang (Go) to navigate and work with our existing backend microservice architecture. This role is well-suited for professionals who can adapt quickly to established codebases and collaborate effectively in a remote, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Software Development: Develop, extend, and maintain web applications with a primary focus on Vue.js, ensuring alignment with business and user requirements across multiple languages and regions.
- Internationalization (i18n): Implement and scale internationalization supportincluding locale switching, translation pipeline integration, and number, date, and currency formattingto support 20+ languages across EU territories.
- System Understanding & Contribution: Work with existing systems and codebases with minimal onboarding, contributing effectively from the early stages of the engagement.
- Backend Awareness: Understand and navigate backend systems built in Golang without necessarily contributing heavily to backend development. Ability to read service logic and data flows to debug front-end integration issues.
- Compliance & Regulatory Awareness: Support implementation of EU data regulation requirements, including cookie consent flows, GDPR-compliant data handling, and regional feature configurations.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including senior engineers and product stakeholders, to understand requirements and ensure seamless front-end and backend integration.
- Code Maintenance & Quality: Maintain code quality by identifying and resolving issues, ensuring stable and efficient application performance across all supported regions.
Required Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 4+ years of experience in software development
Technical Proficiency
- Strong hands-on experience with Vue.jsincluding components, reactivity, computed properties, watchers, and state management (mandatory)
- Solid JavaScript and TypeScript fundamentals async/await, promises, prototypal inheritance, and type safety
- Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs understanding of statelessness, versioning, and HTTP semantics
- Comfort working in a Node.js environment package management, environment variables, and middleware patterns
- Basic understanding or exposure to Golang (Go) sufficient to read and navigate existing backend services
- Familiarity with Linux systems and ability to write basic SQL queries
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git)
- Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices
Working Style
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Comfortable working on existing systems with minimal guidance
- Able to collaborate effectively across time zones with a US-based engineering team
Desirable Skills
- Experience with internationalisation frameworks such as vue-i18n or similar
- Familiarity with EU data regulations GDPR, cookie consent implementations, and regional compliance patterns
- Working knowledge of Go particularly concurrency patterns, goroutines, and channels
- Experience with micro-frontend architecturemodule federation or independent deployments
- Exposure to WebSockets or real-time communication systems
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes in a production environment
- Familiarity with ColdFusion / Lucee (legacy system exposure is a genuine advantage)
- Experience working in Agile environments and within collaborative, team-oriented settings
