Web Application Firewall Engineer

Role Overview

• Primary Focus: Support, deployment, and maintenance of enterprise WAF products.
• WAF Products Mentioned:
• Akamai Kona
• F5 ASM/AWAF
• Salt API Protection
• Potential Expansion: Responsibility for other network security technologies such as:
• Network Access Control (NAC)
• Firewalls

Required Experience & Knowledge

• Experience: Minimum 5 years with enterprise WAF products.
• Technical Skills:
• Troubleshooting using: packet captures, CLI commands, understanding network protocols.
• TCP/IP Layer 7 / application layer security fundamentals.
• Application log analysis and collaboration with developers for secure coding.
• Scripting/Coding (Bonus): Python or PowerShell for automation.

Education & Communication

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or related field.
• Soft Skills:
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Ability to interact across organizational levels and understand business requirements.
• Strong customer/client focus.
• Other: Flexible work schedule; on-call for incident response.
