Why This Role Matters
This is not just a leadership positionit's a defining role for the company's tech evolution. As VP of Engineering, you'll be responsible for shaping how products are developed and delivered across all verticals. You'll lead with vision, build high-performing teams, and scale systems that solve uniquely Indian eCommerce problems like RTO and low CoD conversions. Your impact will be felt not just in GoKwik's tech stack, but across the broader commerce ecosystem.
What You'll Own
- Serve as a key thought leader and strategic partner across Engineering, Product, and Business functions
- Own the end-to-end engineering roadmapfrom product conception to deliveryensuring performance, scalability, and speed
- Build and mentor a world-class engineering team, fostering a strong culture of ownership, innovation, and excellence
- Drive cross-functional collaboration to deliver high-quality features and infrastructure improvements
- Lead key architectural decisions and provide deep technical guidance on scaling, security, and system design
- Identify and implement the latest technologies and practices to improve product development velocity
- Communicate priorities, trade-offs, progress, and outcomes effectively across stakeholders
- Partner with Product Management and Design to ensure alignment on business and customer needs
- Step in during critical moments to unblock teams and steer direction with clarity
- Engage directly with customers and leadership teams to align technical solutions with strategic goals
- Develop career growth plans, training programs, and performance processes for engineers and leaders
Who You Are
- 15+ years of experience in engineering leadership roles, with a minimum of 3+ years as a VP or Head of Engineering
- Proven experience in building and scaling large-scale, SaaS-based platforms
- Strong background in leading high-impact, cross-functional teams across frontend, backend, infrastructure, and DevOps
- Deep technical knowledge in backend systems, cloud architecture, microservices, and data pipelines
- Strategic mindset with the ability to think long-term while driving short-term execution
- Experience leading through hyper-growth, including scaling teams, systems, and processes
- Strong understanding of modern engineering best practices including CI/CD, automation, quality, and security
- Ability to attract, retain, and grow top engineering talent
- Effective communicator with strong influencing skills across engineering and non-engineering functions
- Familiarity with the BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) model is a plus
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Passion for mentoring, community building, and representing the company externally
