Our Analytics organization comprises of data analysts who focus on enabling strategies to enhance customer and partner experience and optimize business performance through data management and development of full stack descriptive to prescriptive analytics solutions using cutting edge technologies thereby enabling business growth.

Role Summary/Purpose

The VP, Data Sourcing Program Manager (Individual contributor) within Synchrony's Data Office will be responsible for supporting execution of the metadata management and data cataloging strategy for Synchrony. The individual will be reporting to the VP, Metadata Management and Data Sourcing Leader.

This role will collaborate with business and IT leaders, data management process owners, and analytics stakeholders across Synchrony to support the modernization of our analytic processes and data assets by leading and driving project and program management activities for the implementation of our data sourcing and metadata management controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively plan, define and manage the backlog (program) of work associated with Data Sourcing activities and outcomes using SAFE Agile techniques.
  • Create, communicate, and closely manage program plans, status, risks and issues, and partner with stakeholders to drive remediation of risks and issues.
  • Support Synchrony's cloud migration journey by ensuring data sourcing and metadata controls are implemented consistently across on-prem and cloud environments.
  • Provide ongoing status reporting and executive-ready communications.
  • Identify, track, and drive remediation for risks, issues, and impediments
  • Ensure process rigor and adherence with SAFE Agile management practices and PMO processes and standards.
  • Help drive successful adoption of data cataloging and metadata capabilities and controls.
  • Support analysis and improvement of our catalog metadata and the creation of curated assets to improve analyst productivity.
  • Oversee Data Sourcing KPIs and KRIs and ensure ongoing adherence to established thresholds.
  • Oversee Data Issues assigned to the Data Sourcing team and drive timely triage, assignment, escalation, and closure.
  • Ensure compliance with data management methodologies and Data Office processes and standards.
  • Support auditability/traceability of controls related to data sourcing and metadata management
  • Support creation of audit readiness artifacts and remediation plans for findings related to Data Sourcing.
  • Mentor/coach teams as needed to drive adoption and execution consistency of agile practices.

Required Skills & Knowledge

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field and minimum 8+ years of relevant Data Management or project/program management experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience to include:
    • 5 years of project and/or program management experience to include working on gathering business need requirements, planning and defining business solutions
    • 5 years of experience in working on data-related projects and using data governance platforms (e.g., Collibra, Ab Initio, Alation, etc.) to manage enterprise metadata
    • 5 years of experience with Agile methodology and tools

  • Strong interpersonal skills to lead cross-functional teams, foster collaboration and drive consensus across stakeholder groups
  • Experience using Agile and SAFE Agile methodologies
  • Ability to direct technical teams and mentor/coach team members
  • Exceptional problem-solving, communication and leadership abilities
  • Experience working in financial services and in the credit card domain in particular

Eligibility Criteria

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Analytics, or related field with 8+ years of hands-on experience or in lieu of a degree with 10+ years of experience

Work Timings: 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM IST

This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs)
