Job Title: Visual Storyteller
Company: Pangolin Marketing
Employment Type: Assignment-Based Evaluation
Mode: Remote
Challenge Title: Brand Consistency for B2B SaaS
Number of Deliverables: 3
Deadline: 3 days from receipt of assignment
Submission Format: Google Drive Links
Client Context: Volta Analytics
Volta Analytics is a B2B SaaS platform that helps mid-market manufacturing companies track energy usage and reduce operational waste. Their target buyers are Operations Directors and Plant Managers at companies with 200 to 1,000 employees.
Their brand personality is precise, trustworthy, and efficient. The brand should feel like a serious company with quiet confidence, not cold and not startup-flashy.
Their current design problem is inconsistency across materials. Their designs look like they were created by different people across different years. There is a lack of cohesion in visual identity. As a result, they are losing deals to a competitor whose product is technically inferior but appears more credible due to stronger visual presentation.
Deliverable 1: Landing Page Hero Section
Design a landing page hero section for Volta's new product feature called Volta Alerts, which provides real-time notifications for energy anomalies.
The design should be created in a desktop width of 1440 pixels and must also include a mobile version with a width of 390 pixels.
The hero section must include a headline, a sub-headline, one call-to-action button, and a visual element. The visual element can be an illustration, data visualization, photography treatment, or any suitable format chosen by the designer.
The final submission should be provided as a Figma frame or a high-resolution export.
The candidate must also write a short explanation of two to four sentences describing why this visual direction was chosen over alternative design approaches.
Deliverable 2: One-Page Sales Brochure
Design a single-page brochure in A4 portrait format that a sales representative can share as a PDF after an initial call with a potential customer.
The brochure should include a product headline, three key benefits, one proof point, and one call-to-action.
The three key benefits to be included are:
Cut energy waste by 18 percent on average
Real-time alerts before small issues become costly ones
Integrates with your existing OT systems in under 2 weeks
Placeholder copy may be used wherever necessary, as the focus of this task is on design quality and visual hierarchy rather than copywriting.
The candidate must also write a short explanation of two to four sentences describing the most important hierarchy decision made on the page and the reason behind that decision.
Deliverable 3: Three-Slide Pitch Deck Section
Design three slides from a sales presentation deck.
The three slides required are:
The Problem Slide
The Solution Slide
The ROI Proof Slide
The slide ratio must be 16:9.
The candidate is responsible for creating the content structure for these slides. No copy will be provided for this section. The candidate must decide what content to include on each slide based on the context given.
The candidate must also write a short explanation of two to four sentences describing how the decision was made regarding what information to show versus what to leave out on the Problem slide.
