Visual Art Teacher – IB School
(MYP / DP / IGCSE exposure preferred)
Job Profile
A Visual Art Teacher in an IB School is responsible for nurturing creativity, artistic expression, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary learning among students through studio-based and conceptual art education.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and delivering engaging Visual Art lessons aligned with IB philosophy and curriculum framework.
- Teaching drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, design, digital art, and creative exploration techniques.
- Encouraging inquiry-based, experiential, and student-led learning.
- Developing students creativity, observation, aesthetics, and portfolio-building skills.
- Integrating global perspectives, culture, reflection, and art appreciation into classroom learning.
- Organizing exhibitions, art displays, competitions, workshops, and school events.
- Assessing and documenting student progress as per IB/IGCSE assessment practices.
- Maintaining art studios, materials, displays, and safety standards.
- Collaborating with homeroom and subject teachers for interdisciplinary projects.
- Supporting students in portfolio preparation for higher studies and exhibitions (especially DP/IGCSE levels).
- Participating in school events, parent meetings, training, and professional development programmes.
Pre-requisites / Eligibility
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Fine Arts / Visual Arts / Applied Arts or related field.
- B.Ed. preferred (mandatory in many schools).
- IB / Cambridge / International Curriculum experience preferred.
- Minimum 2–5 years of teaching experience in reputed schools.
- Strong practical knowledge of various art forms and techniques.
- Knowledge of digital art tools, design software, and contemporary art practices is an added advantage.
- Good communication and classroom management skills.
- Ability to create an inclusive, creative, and inquiry-driven learning environment.
- Portfolio of artwork/projects preferred during interview process.
- Willingness to participate in exhibitions, events, and collaborative school activities.
