Role Overview

The Virtualization Test & Migration Engineer will be responsible for migrating appliances into new OpenShift infrastructure using established patterns. Migrations may involve physical appliances or existing VMware virtual machines. The role will require hands-on testing, automation implementation, and close collaboration with application owners to ensure seamless migration experiences.

Some out-of-hours and weekend work may be required.

Key Responsibilities

• Migrate physical and virtual appliances to OpenShift following defined patterns.
• Conduct lab validation testing and document success/failure results per pattern.
• Execute appliance migrations at scale and perform post-migration acceptance testing.
• Work closely with application owners to validate functionality after migration.
• Implement automation scripts to streamline migration and testing activities.
• Manage warranty issues, attend CAB (Change Advisory Board) meetings, and support defect resolution.
• Oversee change management-related requirements in customer environments.

Required Experience & Skills

Technical Experience

• 5+ years in an engineering and testing role.
• Proven expertise with VMware virtualization platforms and Red Hat OpenShift (must have).
• Experience migrating and testing network and security appliances such as:
• F5
• Cisco ASA
• Cisco ISE
• Bluecoat
• Strong background in network technologies and experience managing migrations in both test and production environments.
• Demonstrated history of migrating complex virtualized workloads at scale.
• Experience with change management processes in enterprise customer settings.

Soft Skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong documentation and cross-team collaboration abilities.
