The Role

You will own the edit across two formats:

Short-form (60% of your time) Reels and YouTube Shorts. We give you the source video and the timestamps. You cut 20 to 30 pieces a month that stop the scroll in the first 1.5 seconds without cheapening the brand.

Long-form (40% of your time) Full YouTube videos, 10 to 20 minutes. Multi-cam, b-roll, motion graphics, sound design. We have a five-pass editing SOP you will follow and eventually help improve.

What You Will Actually Do

• Cut reels and shorts from long-form source footage
• Edit full-length YouTube videos to our documented SOP
• Build and animate lower thirds, callouts, and text treatments in After Effects
• Colour grade and mix audio to a consistent house standard
• Maintain the project file structure and asset library so nothing gets lost
• Deliver against turnaround SLAs, not vibes
• Flag shorts-worthy moments you spot in the raw footage that we missed

Requirements

Non-negotiable

• 4+ years editing video professionally
• Adobe Premiere Pro, at an expert level. Multicam, nested sequences, proxy workflows, dynamic link
• Adobe After Effects, working level. Text animation, masking, tracking, basic expressions
• A portfolio with at least three short-form pieces and one long-form piece you cut yourself
• Understanding of pacing for retention, not just for looks
• Clear written English and reliable communication

Strongly preferred

• Experience editing for a personal brand or a coaching or education channel
• Sound design and audio repair, not just dropping a music bed
• DaVinci Resolve for grading
• Basic Photoshop or Figma for thumbnail and graphic support
• Familiarity with what makes a hook work on Instagram specifically

We do not care about

• Your degree
• Whether you have worked at an agency
• Your typing speed, your certifications, or your CV design

How We Judge Your Work

Four things, in this order:

1. Hook. Does the first 1.5 seconds earn the next 5
2. Rhythm. Does the cut pacing match calm authority A cut every 0.4 seconds is not energy. It is noise.
3. Restraint. Every effect must justify itself. Whip pans, zoom punches, and cartoon SFX are an automatic no.
4. Consistency. Can you deliver the same standard on video 40 as on video 1

The Hiring Process

1. Apply. Send your portfolio and one line on which of our videos you would have cut differently, and why.
2. Paid trial task. You get one published long-form video and its transcript. You return two reels, 45 seconds each, cut to our existing style. Three days.
3. Call. 30 minutes with the founder.
4. Offer.

We pay for trial work. We do not ask for free labour and we do not use trial submissions.
