Role Description The Video Editor Intern role is a remote internship focused on supporting Laneway's media and marketing initiatives. The intern will assist in editing and assembling video content for social media, digital campaigns, and presentations, following brand guidelines and creative direction. Day-to-day tasks include organizing raw footage, trimming and sequencing clips, adding basic transitions, text, and audio, and preparing videos in multiple formats for various platforms. The role may also involve collaborating with the marketing and consulting teams to translate business concepts into clear, engaging visual stories. The intern is expected to manage deadlines, maintain file organization, and be open to feedback and iterative revisions.

Qualifications

  • Foundational skills in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve) and basic knowledge of motion graphics tools (e.g., After Effects or similar).
  • Understanding of visual storytelling, pacing, and composition, with the ability to follow creative briefs and brand guidelines.
  • Basic audio editing skills, including syncing sound, adjusting levels, and applying simple sound effects or background music.
  • Familiarity with social media and digital platforms (e.g., YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn) and the formats and aspect ratios they require.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization skills for managing assets and project files, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and openness to constructive feedback and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Current student or recent graduate in film, media, communications, design, or a related field is preferred, but candidates with relevant portfolios are also encouraged to apply.
  • Interest in business, startups, and digital marketing is a plus, along with a willingness to learn and grow in a fast-moving consulting and media environment.
