YouTube Video Editor Long-Form AI Content
Location: Remote
Job Type: Contract / Freelance
Experience Level: Mid-level to Senior
About the Role
I'm looking for a dedicated YouTube video editor to transform 56 recorded AI workshop sessions (73 hours of content) into polished, retention-optimized YouTube videos. These workshops were delivered live to corporate audiences and business owners, covering AI fundamentals, prompt engineering, n8n automation, agentic AI, monetization strategies, and more.
This is a long-term, paid engagement not a one-off project. The existing content library alone represents 6+ months of consistent work, with potential for ongoing new content beyond that.
What You'll Be Doing
The work involves three types of edits:
1. Tighten Full Sessions 45 workshop recordings (1 hour each) need to be cleaned up into 40-50 minute YouTube videos. This means cutting dead time, workshop-specific audience interaction, setup delays, and filler while keeping the teaching flow intact. Every video needs a strong hook in the first 10-15 seconds (no slow workshop intros), chapter markers, burned-in captions, zoom-ins on screen recordings, and lower-third text for key terms.
2. Split Longer Sessions Into Series 11 recordings (2-3.5 hours each) need to be split into numbered Part series (45-55 min per part) at natural topic transitions. Each part opens with a brief context card, has its own hook, and ends with an end screen prompting the next part.
3. Extract Standalone Clips & Compilations Across all 56 sessions, identify and extract self-contained moments (8-20 min) that work as independent videos. This includes clear concept explanations, impressive demo moments, strong takes on AI trends/careers/monetization, and standalone Q&A exchanges. When the same topic appears across multiple sessions, identify the sharpest delivery and use that as the definitive standalone video.
Important: These are continuous teaching sessions where later content builds on earlier content. They cannot be randomly chopped into short clips. You need to understand how to tighten and extract without breaking the teaching flow.
Deliverables Per Video
Edited video file (1080p minimum, 16:9, YouTube-optimized export)
Thumbnail (click-worthy, consistent brand style)
Chapter markers list (timestamps + topic labels for the YouTube description)
Burned-in captions/subtitles (consistent styling across all videos)
Extraction flag notes (timestamps of standalone moments spotted during editing)
Volume & Cadence
Expected output: 110 YouTube videos from the existing library
Publishing cadence: 4 videos/week, delivered in weekly batches
If you can deliver more per week and finish faster, that works too
Required Skills
Proficiency in Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve
Experience editing long-form educational or tutorial content for YouTube (not vlogs or entertainment)
Strong understanding of YouTube retention hooks, pacing, pattern interrupts, visual variety
Ability to make screen-recording-heavy footage visually engaging (zoom-ins, annotations, callouts, transitions)
Thumbnail design (Photoshop, Canva, or Figma)
Caption/subtitle generation with consistent styling
Ability to identify natural split points in continuous content
Reliable communication and ability to hit weekly deadlines
Experience editing AI or tech content
Familiarity with YouTube SEO (titles, descriptions, tags, end screens)
