US-based Technology Capability Center

Gurugram | Reports to Global Chief Strategy Officer

BrassTacks Resources has been retained by an established, US-based, product-led technology company to appoint a VP of Operations, India, for its India office, which is scaling toward 140 employees.

India is a key delivery center. This role is being created to strengthen alignment with US leadership, improve visibility across people and business processes, and support disciplined, sustainable scale. The India organization primarily operates on India working hours, with selective overlap for engagement with US-based stakeholders.

Role Description

The VP of Operations, India, is the principal operational leader for the India organization, accountable for all non-engineering functions and overall operating health. As the primary interface with global leadership, the role oversees people operations, statutory compliance, and financial stewardship. As the organization scales, this leader drives disciplined execution of global priorities, ensures clear visibility into performance and risk, and establishes a consistent operating cadence with headquarters.

The role operates through influence and gravitas in a highly matrixed global environment, with dotted-line oversight across HR, Finance & Accounting, IT, and Facilities.

People & Workplace Operations

  • Provide senior on-ground leadership for employee relations, escalations, and workplace matters
  • Partner with Global HR on hiring, performance management, compensation, and retention
  • Ensure adherence to Indian labor laws and statutory requirements

Operational Discipline & Process Improvement

  • Introduce consistent reporting, dashboards, and review mechanisms
  • Identify and resolve gaps across core operating processes
  • Improve decision-making, approval, and escalation flows

Finance, Compliance & Risk

  • Oversee payroll, audits, statutory filings, and local accounting operations
  • Manage relationships with CA firms, advisors, and regulatory stakeholders
  • Ensure financial and compliance matters are managed with rigor and foresight

IT & Technology Operations

  • Own the India site's technology operating environment, aligned with global standards
  • Manage local IT vendors and service partners
  • Act as the senior escalation point for technology risks and disruptions

Office & Facilities Management

  • Lead the physical workplace strategy across infrastructure, safety, and employee experience
  • Own facilities and services vendors with clear accountability
  • Ensure the office environment supports productivity, culture, and growth

Candidate Profile

  • 12+ years of operations leadership experience, with significant India exposure
  • Demonstrated ability to stabilize and strengthen operational environments
  • Strong understanding of Indian compliance, labor law, and workplace governance
  • Experience working with US or globally distributed leadership teams
  • Credibility to engage confidently with senior stakeholders and employees alike
  • Strong communication skills and ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment

Preferred Profile

  • MBA or equivalent experience
  • Background in technology or product-led organizations
  • Prior country or site leadership exposure
  • Proven experience managing scale and rapid growth
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and building or fixing core processes

Reporting

You will report directly to the Global Chief Strategy Officer with the mandate to run India operations while staying aligned with global priorities.

The role requires regular engagement with US-based stakeholders and comfort working across time zones.
