Vice President

FyneHand is mandated to hire for the position of Vice President - Physical Design.

Our client is a leading semiconductor and VLSI design services company specializing in advanced node technologies and end-to-end chip design solutions, and is looking for a Vice President - Physical Design to be based in Bangalore. This leadership role will be responsible for driving the organization's Physical Design (PD) strategy, strengthening operational excellence, and supporting the company's next phase of growth and transformation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the overall Physical Design strategy and execution across the organization, covering floorplanning, placement, clock tree synthesis, routing, timing closure, power optimization, and DRC/LVS sign-off

• Ensure adherence to industry standards and foundry rules (FIPS, ISO, etc.) while driving methodology improvements and automation for enhanced efficiency

• Act as the primary technical front-end for clients, translating requirements into executable PD strategies and building strong client confidence through presentations and engagement

• Partner closely with the CEO / Board / leadership team on strategic and business initiatives, including proposal development and commercial inputs

• Collaborate with business development teams to support competitive proposals, including pricing, effort estimation, and delivery timelines

• Build, mentor, and scale high-performing Physical Design teams, including defining training programs for advanced nodes (5nm, 3nm) and emerging packaging technologies

• Establish strong relationships with foundries (TSMC, Samsung, GlobalFoundries, etc.) and coordinate with packaging partners for 2.5D/3D IC integration, bump/ball planning, and thermal analysis

• Drive seamless transition from design to manufacturing, ensuring tape-out readiness and operational excellence

Ideal Candidate:

• 15+ years of experience in semiconductor/VLSI Physical Design with strong leadership exposure

• Proven track record of successful tape-outs across multiple technology nodes

• Experience leading large teams and managing end-to-end PD programs

• Strong client-facing, presentation, and stakeholder management skills

• Deep expertise in EDA tools such as Cadence Innovus, Synopsys ICC2, and Mentor Calibre

• Strong understanding of foundry processes, packaging technologies, and commercial aspects of project delivery

• Demonstrated strategic thinking with strong execution capabilities
