Job Description

Position summary: The Senior Consumer / User Researcher will be responsible for planning, executing, and synthesizing user research across a diverse portfolio of mobile and consumer electronics products. The role operates at the intersection of user behavior, product design, and market dynamics—conducting or commissioning primary research (fieldwork, interviews, surveys, and usability tests) and translating findings into clear recommendations for product, design, and strategy teams. The researcher will manage multiple concurrent studies and will serve as the local subject-matter expert on consumer insights, collaborating closely with the China-based research leadership.

Major responsibilities:

• Design, plan, and execute qualitative and quantitative user research studies—including user interviews, focus groups, ethnographic field visits, diary studies, surveys, and usability/concept tests

• Lead or support user segmentation studies, target-user deep dives, mobile software experience demand mining, NPS / user satisfaction measurement, and new feature concept validation

• Synthesise research findings into clear, compelling reports and presentations tailored to diverse stakeholders—product managers, designers, business heads, and China HQ

• Advocate for research-driven decision-making; drive tangible implementation of research outputs within product and design workflows

• Manage the complete research lifecycle—brief intake, methodology design, recruitment, fieldwork, analysis, reporting—across multiple simultaneous projects under tight timelines

• Collaborate with the Head of Research (Mainland China) to align local research priorities with global product strategy; contribute to local team management and capability development

• Identify and nurture external research partnerships—universities, research institutions, specialist agencies—to expand local research capacity

• Continuously monitor industry trends, competitive product experiences, and emerging research methodologies to keep the function current and effective.

• Build and maintain a living repository of user insights, personas, and journey maps that can be leveraged across product teams

SKILLS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Bachelor's degree or above in Psychology, Sociology, Statistics, Anthropology, Marketing, Business, Economics, Information Technology, Management, or a related field

• 5+ years of hands-on user research experience spanning both qualitative methods (interviews, fieldwork, focus group moderation, diary studies) and quantitative methods (survey design, statistical analysis, concept testing)

• Strong command of the full research lifecycle—from problem framing and methodology selection through fieldwork, analysis, insight synthesis, and stakeholder presentation

• Demonstrated experience supporting products across all stages — concept, development, launch, and post-launch — with a proven record of research outputs driving measurable product outcomes

• Proficient in survey design and quantitative data analysis; comfortable interpreting statistical outputs and translating them into business implications

• Excellent written and verbal communication in English; ability to craft and present research narratives for senior leadership and cross-functional audiences

• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

• Strong collaboration, stakeholder management, and cross-functional teamwork skills

• Positive, proactive attitude with a high sense of ownership and team orientation
