Unity VR Technical Environment Artist

Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh (Relocation Required)

Full-time | Experience: 4+ Years

About the Role

We are looking for a Unity VR Technical Environment Artist who can create optimized cinematic VR environments for Meta Quest.

You will work on immersive VR experiences inspired by Ramayana, Mahabharata, and Indian cultural heritage. Your role will focus on building visually rich scenes in Unity using lighting, shaders, VFX, and optimized 3D assets.

This is a hands-on role inside Unity. You will own the visual quality and performance of VR environments, ensuring they run smoothly on Meta Quest devices.

We are a fast-paced startup environment where team members take ownership and learn quickly.

What You Will Do
  • Create and assemble cinematic VR environments inside Unity
  • Build scenes using terrain tools, modular assets, vegetation, props, and architecture
  • Implement lighting, light baking, light probes, and reflection probes
  • Create and optimize VFX using Particle Systems, VFX Graph, and Shader Graph
  • Ensure environments are optimized for Meta Quest performance
  • Manage polycount, draw calls, LODs, and texture atlasing
  • Work with Unity developers and 3D artists to integrate assets and scenes
  • Build and deploy APK builds from Unity to Meta Quest devices for testing
  • Maintain visual quality while keeping scenes efficient for VR rendering
  • Contribute creative ideas to improve environment design
Required Skills
  • 4+ years of experience working with Unity for real-time environments
  • Strong understanding of Unity lighting and scene optimization
  • Experience building environments for VR or real-time applications
  • Experience creating VFX using Unity Particle Systems / VFX Graph
  • Ability to create or modify materials and shaders using Shader Graph
  • Experience optimizing scenes for performance on standalone VR devices
  • Knowledge of LOD creation, texture atlasing, and draw call optimization
  • Ability to build and test apps on Meta Quest devices
  • Familiarity with URP and Unity render pipelines
Tools & Software

Experience with the following tools is preferred:

  • Unity 3D
  • Blender
  • Substance Painter
  • ZBrush

You should understand 3D modeling workflows, even if most assets are created by other artists.

Portfolio Requirement

Portfolio should demonstrate real-time environments or Unity scenes.

Nice to Have
  • Experience with photogrammetry assets
  • Experience working on VR experiences for Meta Quest
