Role Summary
US Mortgage Underwriting professional with hands-on experience in reviewing the 4 C's of Underwriting (Credit, Capacity, Capital, and Collateral) in accordance with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and client-specific guidelines. Skilled in loan eligibility assessment, underwriting quality checks, and risk evaluation to ensure accurate, compliant underwriting decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Performed Quality Checks on Origination Underwriting files using effective sampling methods to assess production quality and identify improvement areas.
- Reviewed and analyzed the 4 C's of Underwriting to determine borrower eligibility and recommend loan decisions.
Credit Evaluation
- Verified borrower details including Name, SSN, Credit Score, Public Records, Credit Inquiries, Address Discrepancies (last 24 months), and additional SSN alerts.
- Reconciled liabilities from credit reports.
- Reviewed mortgage payment history and identified any late payments within the last 12 months.
Capacity (Income Analysis)
- Calculated Salaried Income using Pay Stubs, W-2s, and Verification of Employment (VOE).
- Analyzed Self-Employed Income using IRS Tax Returns (Form 1040).
- Evaluated Other Income sources based on supporting documentation.
- Ensured accurate Debt-to-Income (DTI) calculations.
Capital (Assets Review)
- Reviewed and validated borrower asset statements.
- Calculated available assets to assess overall financial strength of the borrower.
Collateral (Property Review)
- Reviewed Appraisal Reports for accuracy and guideline compliance.
- Assessed property value and eligibility as acceptable collateral.
- Recommended final underwriting decisions based on complete risk assessment.
