About the role

This isn't your typical drone-pilot gig. Most of our flight testing happens in mountains 10s or 100s of kilometers away from civilization you'll spend as much time travelling and hiking, across India, as you will at the desk.

Your job on field is to serve as the co-pilot, assisting with on-field testing, installation and repairs. When you're not in the field, you'll help the team with assembling the airframe, installing avionics, and prototyping new ideas.

This role sits at the intersection of flying and building ideal for someone who loves both and likes getting their hands dirty.

You'll thrive here if you:

  • You have real, hands-on experience building fixed-wing airplanes. These could be projects you've done in a professional context, in college competitions or on your own.
  • You are proficient with CAD tools like Fusion 360 and 3D printing.
  • You have a few hundred hours of fixed-wing flight time and strong hands-on flying skills.
  • You're excited by the idea of spending most of your time on the field, directly contributing to the creation of the world's highest endurance airplanes.
  • You can think from first principles, prioritise deep understanding over surface-level information and are self-motivated.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Assisting with regular flight tests for large 3m wingspan composite UAVs.
  • Helping with the assembly and making repairs mechanical, electrical, or software to ensure successful test campaigns.
  • Analyzing flight logs.
  • Collaborating with engineers to translate flight observations into design improvements.

Today, our flight testing sporadic - we do anywhere from 1 to 10 flight a week, this role exists to help us consistently get to 20+ flights/week.

Alteon will demand obsession, long-hours and a lot of energy. But this is also the place where you will have incredible agency and ability to contribute. You will contribute to breaking new ground, pushing the boundaries of what is possible today. You will have all the resources you need for validating and implementing your boldest theories.

If you want to do the best work you can, and grow into the best engineer you can be this is where you should be.

This role is full-time and in-person in Kada Agrahara, Bangalore.
