Job Description

1. Operations Planning & Coordination

  • Oversee TBM procurement, assembly, commissioning, and launch sequences.
  • Develop daily and weekly work plans, coordinating with civil, mechanical, electrical, slurry, and survey teams.
  • Liaise with subcontractors, OEMs, geotechnical experts, and project engineers.

2. Technical Oversight

  • Monitor all TBM components: cutter head, main drive, slurry pumps, screw conveyors, segment erector, gantries.
  • Ensure cutter head interventions in hyperbaric and standard conditions.
  • Supervise slurry circuit-pressure, flow, pipelines, mucking-and manage surface slurry treatment.

3. Performance & Maintenance

  • Implement preventive and corrective maintenance regimes to maximize TBM uptime.
  • Maintain critical spares, consumables, and liaise with OEM support for troubleshooting.
  • Track KPIs: advance rate, downtime, slurry consumption, cutter wear.

4. Safety & Quality Compliance

  • Enforce safety protocols (e.g., lockout/tagout, confined space, slurry pressure safety).
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, toolbox talks handle emergencies and evacuations.
  • Ensure excavation quality-for cutter alignment, over-excavation control, slurry pressure-to protect tunnel face integrity.

5. Team Leadership & Training

  • Manage, mentor, and supervise multidisciplinary crews including engineers, foremen, pump/electric/mechanical operators.
  • Recruit and train TBM team members supervise performance, coordinate tasks, and ensure efficiency.

6. Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain daily logs: progress, breakdowns, maintenance, safety incidents, slurry metrics.
  • Prepare weekly summaries, technical evaluations, deviation notices, and liaise with senior management.
