Job Description

Main purpose

The Treasury Technology department is responsible for implementing strategic projects across the Group Treasury team which comprises of Treasury Payments, Treasury Capital and FX & Interest Risk Management functions. With a growing portfolio of pivotal initiatives, including the implementation of a new Payment Hub and Enterprise Data Platform, consolidating Group Treasury data from multiple systems. The team plays a pivotal role in enabling operational efficiency, data integrity, and regulatory compliance across the Group's global Group Treasury landscape.

The Connectivity and Data Lead will be responsible for designing, documenting, and governing the data architecture and system that supports Trafigura's Group Treasury functions, spanning Treasury Payments, Treasury Capital, and FX & Interest Rate risk management. The role sits at the intersection of Treasury operations and technology, requiring the candidate to translate business requirements into robust data models, integration frameworks, solutions and governance standards. In the near term, the candidate will play a hands-on role in supporting the rollout of Group's new Payment Hub, establishing bank account connectivity and configuring the application.

Key responsibilities

a. Data Architecture:

  • Design and maintain an independent end-to-end data architecture for Group Treasury, covering Treasury Payments, Treasury Capital, and FX & Interest Rate risk management domains
  • Document existing data flows across Group Treasury processes, identifying gaps, inconsistencies,

and redundancies

  • Design and develop dashboards and data visualisations as part of the UI layer of the treasury data

b. Bank and other Connectivity:

  • Liaise with the current SWIFT Service Bureau vendor for setting up bank connectivity, fix connectivity failures and data transmission errors, review of vendor portal users
  • Complete bank account setup and connectivity for the new payment hub ensuring consistent bank records across upstream data systems and the payment hub
  • Establish and maintain connectivity between Group Treasury systems and external data providers and trading platforms, including FX execution systems, market data feeds, loan management platforms, and interest rate benchmarks (e.g., SOFR, EURIBOR), ensuring timely, accurate, and automated data flows into the treasury data architecture
  • Coordinate testing (UAT, connectivity testing, data validation)

c. Operate and automate operational data (Hands-On Execution):

  • Manually replicate and validate new bank account data from workflow tools into treasury static data system.
  • Maintain data accuracy across systems.
  • Work with IT to design connectivity across systems and the workflow tools to eliminate manual work

d. Other Automation support:

  • Identify and document opportunities where tooling or intelligent automation could improve data quality,

reduce manual effort, enhance straight-through processing or improve reporting within the treasury

data landscape

  • Support the testing and validation of AI-assisted data tools or other automation solutions, providing

structured feedback on accuracy, data integrity, and operational fit

  • Stay ahead of with developments in AI applications relevant to treasury data management and proactively

share relevant insights

Required qualifications

  • 6-10 years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or financial systems integration roles, ideally within financial services, treasury, or commodities trading environments
  • Strong academic foundation in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical rigor
  • Working knowledge of connectivity frameworks (SWIFT Service Bureau, FileAct, H2H, API-based bank onboarding) and experience implementing bank account setup or connectivity tasks within a TMS
  • Proficiency in data modelling (conceptual, logical, and physical), ETL/ELT pipeline design, and API integration patterns (REST, SOAP, SFTP).
  • Experience working in environments with complex data requirements or multiple systems
  • Proficiency with SQL and at least one scripting language (Python preferred) for data validation, transformation, and automation support

Preferred qualifications

  • Relevant professional certification (e.g., TOGAF, AWS/Azure Data certifications, or equivalent) is an
  • Application Architecture is an advantage.
  • Hands-on experience with Treasury Management Systems like Kyriba, SAP Treasury, FIS etc. is preferred
