Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Training Center Head – Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) to lead and manage the company's technical training center. The role will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing training programs related to OFC manufacturing, installation, splicing, testing, O&M, safety, and quality standards.
The candidate will drive capability building for internal teams, field engineers, contractors, and channel partners.
Key Responsibilities
1. Training Strategy & Leadership
- Establish and lead the OFC Training Center operations.
- Develop annual training roadmap aligned with business and project requirements.
- Build structured certification programs for fiber technicians and engineers.
- Ensure alignment with national telecom standards and client requirements.
2. Curriculum Development
- Design training modules covering:
- Optical Fibre fundamentals
- OFC manufacturing process
- Cable laying (UG/Aerial/ADSS)
- HDD, ducting & trenching practices
- Fiber splicing & OTDR testing
- Network commissioning & O&M
- Safety & compliance standards
- Introduce blended learning (classroom + practical lab + field exposure).
3. Training Operations
- Manage trainers, lab infrastructure, and training facilities.
- Set up hands-on labs for splicing, jointing, testing, and fault detection.
- Monitor batch planning, attendance, assessments, and certifications.
- Ensure proper documentation and audit compliance.
4. Stakeholder Coordination
- Coordinate with project heads, HR, and operations teams to identify skill gaps.
- Support large-scale fiber rollout projects with trained manpower.
- Liaise with government bodies / skill councils (if applicable).
5. Quality & Performance Monitoring
- Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments and field performance tracking.
- Maintain training KPIs (certification rate, deployment readiness, productivity improvement).
- Continuously upgrade curriculum as per new technologies (FTTH, GPON, DWDM, etc.).
Mandatory Requirements
- 12+ years of experience in Optical Fibre / Telecom domain.
- Strong hands-on experience in OFC laying, splicing, testing, and O&M.
- Experience in leading technical training programs or skill development centers.
- Deep knowledge of fiber standards, safety protocols, and telecom infrastructure practices.
- Strong presentation, communication, and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- B.Tech / BE in Telecom / Electronics / Electrical / Civil.
- Certification in Fiber Optics (FOA or equivalent preferred).
- Experience in large government projects (BBNL / BharatNet / State Fiber Projects).
