Job Description: We are looking for an experienced Mid Roto Artist with a strong eye for detail and a deep understanding of rotoscoping workflows within a VFX pipeline. The candidate will be responsible for delivering complex roto work with high accuracy, while also supporting team quality and mentoring junior artists.
Specific Skill Set
- Create high quality, production ready roto mattes for complex shots including characters, props, and environments
- Handle advanced roto challenges such as motion blur, defocus, transparency, hair, fur, and intricate edge detail
- Ensure frame to frame consistency, edge quality, and clean matte delivery across sequences
- Work closely with compositors and prep teams to meet shot requirements and integration needs
- Review and QC roto work to ensure it meets client and pipeline standards
- Troubleshoot problematic shots and provide efficient technical solutions
- Manage shot priorities and ensure timely delivery under tight deadlines
- Take ownership of sequences and maintain continuity across multiple shots
- Support and guide junior artists, ensuring adherence to quality benchmarks
Required Skills & Expertise
- Strong hands-on experience in Silhouette, Nuke, and Mocha
- Advanced rotoscoping techniques
- Motion blur, defocus, and semi-transparent elements
- Fine detail roto (hair, fur, complex edges)
- Strong understanding of matte quality, edge treatment, and compositing requirements
- Good understanding of VFX production pipelines and shot workflows
- Ability to analyse shots and plan roto approach efficiently
- Strong attention to detail and problem solving mindset
Minimum/Maximum/ Work Experience Required: 4–6 years of experience working on international VFX projects, Diploma or Degree in VFX, Animation, or related field
