Role Description
We are looking for a highly creative and technically proficientPrint & Textile Designerto join our design team. Your mission is to develop original print artworks and textile designs that cater specifically to the aesthetic of ourUK and European retail partners. You will translate high-level trend concepts into production-ready digital and physical prints.
Key Responsibilities
- Artwork Creation:Develop original prints, including florals, geometrics, abstracts, and conversationalS, tailored to specific buyer briefs or mood boards.
- Trend Interpretation:Use WGSN, Catwalk reports, and retail scans to identify upcoming print directions (e.g., ditsy florals for Spring, dark botanicals for Autumn).
- Technical Repeats:Create seamless technical repeats (Straight, Half-drop, Brick) ensuring artworks are ready for Rotary, Flatbed, or Digital printing.
- Color Management:Create multiple colorways for each design using Pantone (TCX/TPG) standards. You must ensure colors are achievable through standard dyeing and printing processes.
- Technique Innovation:Explore and propose various print techniques such as Pigment, Discharge, Reactive, Sublimation, and Foil, as well as Value Addition (Embroidery + Print combinations).
- Strike-off Coordination:Work closely with the printing mills or in-house printing department to approve strike-offs (samples), ensuring the color and scale match the buyer's original vision.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education:Degree in Textile Design or Fashion Communication.
- Experience:36 years in a textile design role within an apparel export or manufacturing environment.
- Software Mastery:Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Technical Knowledge:* Deep understanding of different fabric bases and how they absorb color.
- Knowledge of Color Separation for screen printing.
- Portfolio:A strong portfolio demonstrating a range of stylesfrom delicate hand-painted motifs to sharp vector graphics.
- Speed & Agility:You can turn around a buyer's urgent print request in 2448 hours without compromising quality.
- Commercial Awareness:You know how to design a five-color print that looks like an eight-color print to help the merchandising team save on production costs.
- Eye for Scale:You understand how a print scale changes from a Women's Maxi dress to a Toddler's romper
