We are seeking a detail-oriented Testing Engineer with hands-on experience in paints and coating systems. The role involves performance testing, quality inspection, and failure analysis of coatings to ensure compliance with industry standards and operational excellence. The candidate will work closely with production and R&D teams to enhance product performance and durability.

Key Responsibilities

• Performance Testing: Conduct rigorous testing for adhesion, impact resistance, flexibility, and salt spray exposure to determine coating longevity.
• Quality Inspection: Perform Dry Film Thickness (DFT) and Wet Film Thickness (WFT) measurements, viscosity checks, and gloss assessments.
• Surface Preparation Analysis: Verify substrate conditions (e.g., surface profile, cleanliness, and salt contamination) before coating application.
• Material Evaluation: Review raw material batch certificates and perform technical evaluations of new coating systems and equipment.
• Root Cause Analysis: Identify and analyze paint defects (e.g., orange peel, blistering, or delamination) and implement corrective actions in the production line.
• Documentation: Prepare detailed technical reports, quality records, and non-conformance reports (NCRs) for management and clients.
• Process Optimization: Collaborate with R&D and production teams to optimize curing profiles and application parameters.

Technical Skills & Competencies

• Equipment Proficiency: Hands-on experience with thickness gauges, adhesion testers, profile gauges, and environmental monitoring tools.
• Standards Knowledge: Familiarity with industry-specific protocols (e.g., ISO 12944 for corrosion protection or ASTM D4541 for pull-off strength).
• Analytical Thinking: Strong ability to interpret complex data sets and translate technical findings for non-technical stakeholders.
• Safety & Compliance: Deep understanding of EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) protocols related to hazardous chemicals and VOCs.

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Materials Engineering
• Certification in coating inspection (e.g., NACE Level 1/2 or equivalent) will be an added advantage.

• Experience in industrial coatings, defense coatings, or specialty paints.
• Strong problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
• Ability to work on shop floor as well as in testing labs.
• Good communication and reporting skills.
• Reduction in coating defects and rework rates
• Accuracy and timeliness of inspection reports
• Compliance with quality standards and audit requirements
• Improvement in coating performance and durability.
