Technology Transformation Manager

About The Role

As a Technology Transformation Lead you will be accountable for multiple software development initiatives that modernise and industrialise our tooling. You will work closely with technology, business, product, relationship management, operations, data science and governance teams to translate executive direction into clear delivery scope, drive architecture and design decisions, and lead scrum teams through the full software development lifecycle alongside a business analyst. You will be part of a small team of technically-minded transformation leads evolving the organisation and its products into an end-to-end digital experience through the development of a componentised software stack.

What the job involves

Initially reporting to a senior business leader, you will

  • Lead delivery of multiple initiatives from inception to production, owning plan, scope, dependencies, risks and delivery outcomes.
  • Translate business priorities into epics, features and well-defined acceptance criteria that engineering teams can execute against at pace.
  • Run and continuously improve Agile delivery rituals across one or more scrum teams, ensuring predictable throughput and transparent reporting.
  • Drive backlog readiness, sequencing and release planning, ensuring dependencies across technology, data and operations are actively managed.
  • Partner with engineering and operations to define high-level architecture and non-functional requirements, making pragmatic trade-offs that optimise technical implementation and operational execution.
  • Proactively manage delivery through the Agile process, removing blockers, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating incident fixes and hotfix releases where required.
  • Establish delivery controls and governance, including status reporting, RAID management, change control, and stakeholder communications.
  • Own and improve documentation standards for technical delivery, including requirements, architecture decisions, runbooks and support handover.
  • Proactively participate in identifying technology enhancements that could help solves existing VoC challenges.

Requirements

  • You have significant experience leading enterprise software delivery initiatives with a demonstrable track record of shipping software as part of a large team.
  • Experience writing and governing clear requirements packs in multiple formats e.g., BRDs, FRDs, user stories, and specification by example.
  • You have a proven track record of managing a large backlog to metronomic completion across the whole software delivery lifecycle.
  • You have demonstrable experience in Salesforce implementation projects.
  • You are experienced about Agile delivery, release planning, and running high-performing scrum teams.
  • You have demonstrable experience in hands-on digital transformation roles where you helped shape the solution and drove delivery through to production adoption.
  • Your stakeholder management with senior business and technology partners makes you excellent at managing trade-offs across a complex book of work.
  • You can demonstrate a first-hand understanding of component-based cloud architecture and related principles.
  • You have excellent interpersonal skills and excel at traversing from high-level objectives to low-level technical detail across complex systems.

Nice-to-have

It would be advantageous if you had some of the following

  • A background in solution architecture, software engineering, software systems architecture, or an education background in computer science.
  • Strong process modelling skills using BPMN or equivalent, including current state and target state mapping.
  • Previous work experience in data and analytics.
  • A history of successfully working with geographically and culturally diverse teams on large projects.
  • Experience owning or coordinating test strategy and execution e.g., UAT planning, test case design, defect triage, and release readiness.
  • A good understanding of data architecture, transactional and analytical database design concepts, and data analytics systems.
  • Strong PowerPoint skills.
  • Experience in market research organization / environment.
