The Opportunity

We are seeking a Technology Center Manager to lead our South Asia Technology Center (TC SAS) in Vadodara, India. TC SAS develops and maintains a broad range of High Voltage Products, comprising Air- and Gas-insulated Switchgears, Circuit Breakers, Disconnectors and Power Quality. In this role, you will oversee a world-class R&D organization and drive the development of innovative, competitive products that support long‑term business growth. You will build and nurture a high‑performing technical team, ensuring the delivery of cutting‑edge solutions that strengthen our market position and meet evolving customer expectations. How You'll Make An Impact

  • Define and implement the Technology Center's mission, vision, and organizational structure aligned with the long-term global strategy.
  • Ensure R&D projects are delivered on time, within budget, and within scope, while developing the capabilities and competencies needed to support future technologies and systems.
  • With HR support, ensure the organization is properly staffed, skilled, and effectively lead, coach, motivate, and develop team members through structured talent processes.
  • Collaborate closely with the global Technology Management Team and cross-functional partners to share best practices and enable knowledge transfer across the organization. Establish channels for sharing insights and emerging technologies from internal and external sources (e.g., Hitachi Energy R&D, universities)
  • Foster a culture of quality, openness, and continuous improvement – empowering employees to challenge established assumptions in technical work, projects, and processes.
  • Represent Hitachi Energy in internal and external technical forums. Promote R&D activities to strengthen collaboration with external partners such as universities and industry communities. Ensure relevant participation in international technical committees.
  • Serve as a local technical expert for special assignments and manage strategic cooperation with regional universities.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks. Support the protection of intellectual property and assist in IP enforcement and monitoring.
  • Prepare annual and multi‑year budgets in collaboration with local and global leadership, ensuring expenditure remains within approved limits.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background

  • Master's or Doctoral degree in engineering or a related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in research and development of Power & Energy products with 5+ years in leadership role preferably within multinational organizations.
  • Strong business acumen and demonstrated global mindset.
  • Solid understanding of R&D activities and project management.
  • Excellent influencing, coaching, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and global stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required
