The Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing the fleet of cranes, rolling material, and lifting equipment, in order to ensure a high standard of maintenance is achieved at all times. The Technician operates from the local repair center/workshop, aiming to prevent and to remedy failures, according to the applicable quality, safety, health and environmental regulations of Sarens, the local legislation, or the manufacturers guidelines.
Responsibilities
- The Technician will be actively involved the installation & Mechanical completion of Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs) in timely manner
- Receiving and offloading all major components
- Prep, locating, lifting and installation of major WTG components
- Installing loose components for Nacelle, hub, and tower preparation
- Connecting blades to hub, Rotor prep and installation
- Hub prep and staging, blade lifting, handling and torquing
- Rotor prep and installation
- Complete all service reports and associated documentation on a daily basis
- Complete and have signed off daily work sheets by your supervisor / manager
- Reporting opportunities for continuous improvement
- Wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Identify required tools and parts for each assigned work and conduct re-certification of equipment and tools
- Responsible to check availability of all required tools and parts prior actual work day, participate toolbox and daily work team briefings
- Observing all work instructions, procedures, safety codes of practice, employer OH&S and Environmental requirements and statutory rules and regulations.
Requirements
- Have an in depth understanding of the different components of the wind turbine including the electrical pitch system to complete the Installation and MCC
- Ability and willingness to work on weekends, public-vacation, shift-work or on-call duty as required;
- Ability to influence others and lead small teams;
- Willing to train others as applicable;
- Competent in Health and Safety standards (EHS);
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills;
- Effective problem identification and solution skills;
- Ability and willingness to climb Wind Turbines;
- 3-4 years in Construction Wind in any OEM;
- Strong understanding of Wind Turbine construction.
Minimum Educational Qualification
Diploma in a related discipline from an accredited university, institution / ITI
