Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Equipment Setup and Maintenance: Prepare the operation theatre by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies; ensure all devices are sterilized and functioning; perform routine maintenance and report malfunctions.
  • Sterile Environment Management: Implement strict aseptic techniques; sterilize and organize instruments and supplies; monitor and enforce infection control measures.
  • Patient Preparation: Assist in positioning and preparing patients for surgery; verify patient identity and surgical procedure; collaborate with nursing staff to address patient needs.
  • Assistance During Surgery: Provide instruments and supplies to the surgical team; anticipate needs and respond promptly; assist with wound closure and dressings as directed.
  • Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to surgical emergencies; follow emergency protocols and evacuation procedures.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of surgical procedures, instrument counts, and patient details; document any deviations from standard protocols.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth and efficient operations in the theatre.
