About The Role
The Technical Writer/Technical Author at ALTEN India plays a vital role in developing and maintaining high-quality technical documentation for aerospace systems. This position involves authoring detailed system descriptions, maintenance procedures, fault isolation procedures, and other technical content aligned with industry standards such as ATA iSpec 2200, S1000D, and ASD STE 100. The successful candidate will be responsible for extracting information from various technical tools and sources, performing impact analyses on engineering events, and managing content updates within specialized authoring environments like DACAS Arbortext Editor. This role requires a proactive approach to managing workflow, ensuring defect-free delivery, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to meet organizational and customer expectations.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, AME, or related engineering disciplines. A minimum of 0-3 years of experience in aerospace technical writing or cross-checking roles is preferred. Candidates must have strong command of English, with proficiency levels of B2 or higher, and ideally C1. Familiarity with industry standards such as S1000D, ATA iSpec 2200, ASD STE 100, and EN/AS 9100 is essential. Certification in AIRBUS proofreader or similar credentials would be advantageous. Hands-on experience with tools like GAMS, DACAS, TDUMS, DMP, and AIRNAVx is considered a plus, as is a thorough understanding of processes related to Airbus aircraft models such as A320, A330, and A350.
Responsibilities
- Author comprehensive system descriptions, maintenance procedures, fault isolation procedures, and other technical documentation in line with ATA iSpec 2200 / S1000D standards, while aligning content with ASD STE 100 guidelines.
- Extract relevant technical information from various tools and databases including GAMS, IMS-PA, MADAME, TAKSY, PASS-SSI, AIRINA, TDUMS, DMP, and AIRNAVx.
- Perform impact analysis on engineering events such as MPM, SB, COC, MPD, and TR dossiers to determine the scope and implications of content updates.
- Manage configuration changes and content updates within DACAS Arbortext Editor, ensuring version control and consistency.
- Proactively guide work orders through different workflow phases, monitor progress, and report on workload status to ensure timely completion.
- Take ownership of technical updates, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to quality standards.
- Follow a defect-free delivery approach at each stage of content production, aiming to meet or exceed project objectives.
- Maintain a mindset of continuous improvement by reviewing processes, supporting reviews, and adapting to organizational and client requirements.
