Job Summary:
A Technical Sales Engineer is responsible for selling technical products or services by combining engineering expertise with sales skills. This role requires understanding customer needs, providing tailored technical solutions, conducting product demonstrations, and supporting the sales team in closing deals. The ideal candidate should have a strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build long-term client relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Sales & Business Development:
- Identify and develop new business opportunities for technical products/services.
- Generate and qualify leads through cold calling, networking, and customer referrals.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms to close deals successfully.
- Work closely with the sales and marketing teams to drive revenue growth.
2. Technical Consultation & Solution Selling:
- Understand customer requirements and recommend appropriate technical solutions.
- Conduct product demonstrations, presentations, and training sessions.
- Work with R&D and engineering teams to provide customized solutions to clients.
- Assist customers in troubleshooting technical issues related to the product.
3. Client Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients.
- Address customer concerns and provide timely solutions to enhance customer satisfaction.
- Develop long-term partnerships to ensure repeat business and referrals.
4. Market Research & Competitor Analysis:
- Stay updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies.
- Provide feedback to product development teams for continuous improvement.
- Conduct market analysis to identify opportunities for business expansion.
5. Reporting & Compliance:
- Maintain accurate sales records, pipeline reports, and customer data.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
- Prepare periodic reports on sales performance and market insights.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or related field) or a Business degree with technical experience.
- 2-5 years of experience in technical sales, solution selling, or business development.
