Job Description

This is an excellent opportunity to lead multidisciplinary design teams within Global Delivery Services (GDS), delivering a range of UK water sector projects, including non-infrastructure (e.g., water and wastewater treatment works) and infrastructure (e.g., pipeline design). The role involves close collaboration with UK-based management and design teams to ensure seamless project delivery within quality, budget, and time constraints.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead integrated multidisciplinary design teams for UK water utility projects
  • Provide technical direction and people leadership, promoting innovation and high standards
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture within delivery teams
  • Drive technical excellence and digital innovation across all stages of project delivery
  • Embed health, safety, environment, and quality (SHEQ) principles in design, ensuring compliance with CDM Principal Designer responsibilities
  • Champion low-carbon, sustainable design practices
  • Conduct post-project reviews to capture lessons learned and promote best practices
  • Ensure adherence to internal procedures including Engineering, CAD, and QA protocols
  • Manage commercial aspects of project delivery including fee proposals and bids
  • Provide strategic direction and support to internal teams and UK-based stakeholders


Candidate Specification

  • Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
  • 12+ years (preferably 15+) of experience in engineering design for UK projects
  • Proven experience in UK water treatment and/or pipeline design projects
  • Chartered or working towards Chartered Professional Status (recognized by UK Engineering Council)
  • Demonstrated project team leadership and technical acumen in the UK water industry
  • Experience leading large, multidisciplinary teams in the utilities or infrastructure sectors
  • Proficient in project delivery from feasibility through detailed design in both design & build and client-side environments
  • Knowledgeable in Safety by Design, CDM compliance, and continuous improvement
  • Skilled in preparing fee proposals and bid submissions
  • Strong strategic thinking, communication, and commercial management capabilities
  • Proactive mindset, adaptable to dynamic project and client needs
