Position - Technical Officer

Education - Master's degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, or a related life sciences discipline.

Key Responsibilities
Laboratory Operations
- Perform sample receipt verification, quality control assessment, and documentation.
- Execute laboratory procedures including sample preparation, library preparation, and QC processes.
- Operate sequencing instruments and ensure proper pre-run checks, run monitoring, and post-run documentation.
- Troubleshoot technical and instrument-related issues and coordinate resolution with technical support teams.
Workflow & Project Coordination
- Plan daily and weekly laboratory runs based on testing schedules and sample priority.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure smooth workflow from sample intake to report release.
- Track sample status, test progress, and turnaround timelines.
- Escalate delays or deviations promptly to relevant stakeholders.
Data & Reporting
- Monitor data generation quality and flag low-output or quality concerns.
- Coordinate with bioinformatics teams for data processing, analysis, and deliverables.
- Review analytical outputs and assist in report validation prior to release.
- Ensure secure data handling, storage, and sharing with authorized stakeholders.
Client & Cross-Functional Communication
- Address technical queries related to samples, testing, and data deliverables.
- Liaise with internal teams including sales, technical, and R&D for requirements and clarifications.
- Provide status updates and technical explanations to internal stakeholders as required.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate records for all laboratory processes, runs, QC logs, and instrument usage.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory quality standards, accreditation requirements, and SOPs.
- Assist in audits, validations, and quality improvement initiatives.
Inventory & Resource Management
- Monitor reagent and consumable inventory levels.
- Raise purchase requirements and track procurement to avoid workflow disruption.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of laboratory materials.
Qualification
- Master's degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, or a related life sciences discipline.
- Minimum 35 years of experience in a diagnostic or molecular laboratory setting.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of molecular biology techniques and sequencing workflows.
- Hands-on experience with laboratory instruments and QC processes.
- Excellent documentation and data management skills.
- Problem-solving ability and technical troubleshooting expertise.
