Description

The Technical Medical Reviewer is responsible for conducting detailed medical accuracy and quality reviews of promotional and medical communication materials within a structured content approval process. The role focuses on ensuring that materials are scientifically accurate, compliant with approved product information and references, and aligned with applicable internal procedures and external codes.

Key Responsibilities

Medical & Scientific Review

  • Review promotional and medical materials for medical accuracy, scientific validity, and consistency
  • Verify all claims against approved product information and supporting references (peer reviewed publications, abstracts, posters, data on file)
  • Review study designs, patient populations, endpoints, statistical outputs, tables, and graphical representations for accuracy and appropriate interpretation
  • Ensure that data are consistently and correctly presented across text, tables, charts, legends, and footnotes
  • Assess fair and balanced presentation of efficacy and safety information

Compliance & Quality Checks

  • Ensure materials align with internal SOPs, PMAP guidance, and job aids
  • Review inclusion and placement of required elements such as:
    • Prescribing information and safety statements
    • Adverse event reporting language
    • Black triangle (where applicable)
    • Copyright and confidentiality statements
  • Check referencing format (e.g.,Vancouver style) and source traceability
  • Apply awareness of UK specific requirements, including ABPI / IPHA Code considerations
  • Review GDPR related elements, including consent language, unsubscribe links, and privacy statements
  • Check correct use of trademarks ( / ), terminology, spelling, and grammar

Systems & Workflow Execution

  • Perform reviews within Veeva Vault PromoMats, following defined workflows and timelines
  • Review and validate metadata such as audience, method of dissemination, product information, and country of use
  • Document review comments clearly and consistently to support efficient resolution
  • Support smooth progression of materials through review cycles by identifying issues early and minimizing rework

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with medical, marketing, and compliance stakeholders during review cycles
  • Participate in review discussions as required, providing clear, evidence based feedback
  • Communicate quality or compliance concerns through established escalation channels

Experience & Skills

  • 3+ years of experience in medical review, medical editing, quality review, or similar roles in regulated healthcare environments
  • Hands on experience reviewing promotional or medical communication materials
  • Familiarity with Veeva Vault PromoMats
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Medical accuracy review
    • Reference verification
    • Data and statistical consistency checks
  • Working knowledge of GDPR principles and UK promotional code requirements
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple reviews concurrently
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills

Education

  • Master's degree in a scientific, medical, pharmacy, or life sciences discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
