OctavoLab is a Hyderabad-based product engineering company. We are building a dedicated five-person engineering team for a growing portfolio of client product work.

What you'll be building

Our immediate priority is two new web platforms for US-based healthcare clients — a multi-role clinical laboratory network console and a clinical-trial site operations platform. Both are greenfield builds moving from approved prototypes into production. They are regulated products: role-based access, audit logging, consent tracking and electronic-signature traceability are core requirements, not afterthoughts. Interfaces are Spanish-first with English support.

The team also supports our existing client portfolio — logistics and shipping SaaS, e-commerce and integration-heavy platforms — running on Java with Spring Boot, Python, Node.js and Vue.

The role

You'll own application architecture across the team's projects and act as the technical anchor for four engineers. It's hands-on — roughly 60% of your time in code, the rest on design, review and client technical discussion.

What you'll own

• Application architecture, domain data models and module boundaries
• Shared services: identity, role-based access control, audit logging, consent, notifications
• Technical design review, code review standards, release discipline
• Automated test strategy and the team's definition of done
• Technical communication with client stakeholders

What we're looking for

• 6 to 9 years of professional software development experience, including at least 2 years leading or anchoring a delivery team
• Strong production experience with Python and Django or Django REST Framework
• Strong production experience with React and TypeScript
• A data model and API you designed from scratch that survived contact with production
• Practical experience with authentication, authorization, role-based access control and audit logging
• Strong PostgreSQL: schema design, indexing, transactions, migrations
• Docker, Git, Linux and CI/CD-based delivery
• Ability to explain technical trade-offs clearly to non-technical stakeholders

Working across our wider stack

You're not expected to be an expert in all of this on day one — we want depth in your primary stack and the willingness to work across the rest: Java with Spring Boot, Node.js, Vue, FastAPI, Kafka or RabbitMQ, and AWS.

Nice to have

Healthcare, clinical research, fintech or insurance experience. Awareness of HIPAA or similar compliance frameworks. Experience modernising a legacy platform without disrupting live operations.

Full-time. Hyderabad, office-based with hybrid flexibility. Compensation aligned to experience and discussed at screening.
