The Image Guided Robotic Systems (IGRS) group, originating from IIT Madras Healthcare Technology and Innovation Centre (HTIC), pioneers affordable and accessible healthcare solutions through collaborative innovation with engineers, medical professionals, and industry leaders. By integrating computational robotics, computer vision, medical imaging, AR/VR, and mechatronics, IGRS drives advancements in image-guided navigation and robotic-assisted procedures to enhance patient outcomes globally.
What You'll Do
As a Technical Lead - Image Processing, you will:
- Design and develop algorithms for medical image processing pipelines that power image-guided surgical navigation systems.
- Lead the development of medical image processing modules, including image enhancement, image segmentation, multimodal image registration & 3D reconstruction.
- Spearhead ML/DL research efforts, developing and optimizing models such as CNNs, RNNs, and Transformers tailored to medical image modalities.
- Collaborate with clinicians, roboticists, and software teams to integrate image processing modules.
- Validate image processing outputs through automated testing and clinical datasets, ensuring accuracy, precision, and robustness.
- Drive research and innovation by proposing novel techniques and staying updated with medical image processing advancements.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, promoting a culture of excellence in medical image processing, research quality, and continuous learning within a cross-disciplinary team.
What We're Looking For
Experience:
- 8+ years in image processing/computer vision development, with proven leadership in medical device projects.
Technical Skills:
- Strong theoretical background in Conventional Image Processing & Computing Techniques, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning.
- Proficiency in Python with expertise in Pytorch, C++, and libraries like OpenCV, ITK, VTK, MatLab, and 3D Slicer.
- Strong expertise in medical imaging systems like CT, CBCT, MR, X-ray, and Ultrasound.
- Experience with Deep Learning frameworks like VGGNet, ResNet, U-Net, ViTs, SAM 2, etc., for image analysis and recognition tasks.
- Familiarity with surgical navigation systems is an advantage.
- Hands-on experience with medical device regulations (ISO 13485, IEC 62304).
Educational Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or Master's, or Bachelor's with adequate experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or working experience in the related domain.
