Job Title: Software Architect

Location: Chennai, India | Experience: 10+ Years | Function: Enterprise Architecture / Product Engineering

Reports To: Director of Engineering / Manager of Managers

Works With: Engineering Managers, Technical Leads, Product Teams, Pre-sales, and Customers

Role Overview:

As a Software Architect at Ramco, you will leadthe technical design and architecture forcomplex, enterprise- grade platforms. You will be responsible for ensuring scalability, performance, security, and reliability, while supporting the adoption of modernarchitectural patterns and best practices. This is a high-impact role that blends hands-on design, technical leadership, and customer-facing engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

AI-Native Architecture & Governance

  • Designs enterprise systems that can integrate AI capabilities such as conversational interfaces, intelligent automation, or retrieval-based workflows.
  • Defines architectural patterns for secure and scalable AI integration.
  • Establishes governance practices around AI usage, including cost monitoring, privacy safeguards, and observability.
  • Evaluates build vs buy decisions for AI capabilities in alignment with product strategy.
  • Partners with product and business teams to identify meaningful AI use cases — not cosmetic ones.

  1. Architecture & System Design
  • Architect scalable, secure, and high-performing applications using microservices, event-driven architectures, and serverless technologies.
  • Design and implement cloud-native systems optimized for platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Evaluate and recommend new tools, frameworks, and patternsto drive technology modernization.
  • Apply design thinking and domain-driven design (DDD) to solve large-scale businessproblems.

2. Technical Governance & Engineering Excellence

  • Define and enforce architectural standards, code quality benchmarks, and performance metrics across development teams.
  • Conduct architecture reviews, design validations, and technical POCs.
  • Support engineering managers and leads in scaling systems, solving system-level issues, and ensuring technical compliance.
  • Champion DevSecOps, CI/CD automation, and observability practices for resilient systems.

3. Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work with product, pre-sales, customer success, and support teams to align architecture with business needs.
  • Translate complex business objectives into actionable technical strategies.
  • Provide thought leadership in customer meetings, stakeholder briefings, and architectural deep dives.

4. Mentorship & Technical Leadership

  • Mentor senior engineers and technical leads (SD3s), shaping their progression into architect or engineering leadership roles.
  • Conduct technical training, brown-bag sessions, and drive adoption of architectural best practices.
  • Promote a culture of experimentation, engineering excellence, and continuous improvement

5. Pre-sales & Customer Engagement

  • Collaborate with pre-sales teams to design solution architectures for RFPs, PoCs, and new prospects. Present technical vision and architectural strategies to executive-level stakeholders and clients.
  • Support migration, modernization, and technical discovery initiatives for enterprise customers.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering and enterprise-grade architecture.
  • At least 5 years of deep expertise in one or more technical domains (e.g., AI/ML, data analytics, cloud migration, ERP/SaaS systems).
  • 5+ years architecting cloud-based solutions (AWS, Azure, or GCP). Strong technical foundation in:
  • Event-driven architectures (Kafka,RabbitMQ)
  • Microservices, serverless, and distributed systems
  • Full-stack technologies (Java/Python/C#, Vue.js/React, Node.js)
  • SQL and NoSQL databases
  • DevSecOps, CI/CD, Infrastructure-as-Code, Docker,Kubernetes
  • Experience designing and delivering large-scale, resilient, and secure applications. Solid grasp of security protocols (OAuth, JWT) and compliance frameworks.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience in cloud modernization and legacy platform migration at enterprise scale.
  • AWS/Azure/GCP Architect certification is a strong plus.
  • Experience in pre-sales engagements, technical strategy sessions, and customer architecture reviews.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML pipelines, data streaming, or event-based analytics.
  • Recognized thought leadership—through talks, blogs, open-source contributions, or technical whitepapers
