Role Summary
We are looking for an experienced Senior Technical Consultant – Payments to act as a Subject Matter Expert for National Electronic Funds Transfer (NEFT) and Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) systems. The role will lead the complete software development lifecycle for payment solutions, bridging business requirements and technical execution to deliver secure, scalable, compliant, and high-quality payment platforms within the Indian banking ecosystem.
What You'll Do
- Product & Solution Design
- Act as technical SME for NEFT and RTGS payment systems across the organization.
- Analyze business, operational, and regulatory requirements to design secure and scalable payment solutions.
- Define solution architecture leveraging modern concepts such as microservices, APIs, and cloud-ready designs.
- Development & Integration
- Lead end-to-end development and implementation of payment solutions from requirements to deployment.
- Oversee integration of payment platforms with core banking systems and internal/external payment infrastructure.
- Ensure adherence to coding standards, architecture principles, and industry best practices.
- Testing & Quality Assurance
- Coordinate and govern System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Conduct code reviews and ensure solutions meet functional, non-functional, and regulatory standards.
- Ensure compliance with RBI guidelines and internal governance frameworks.
- Support & Problem Resolution
- Provide expert-level production support and troubleshooting for critical payment issues.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures to minimize downtime and failures.
- Documentation & Stakeholder Management
- Prepare and maintain technical documents, functional specifications, and architecture artifacts.
- Share regular status updates, reports, and dashboards with business and technology stakeholders.
Success Metrics (first 12 months)
- Stable and timely delivery of NEFT and RTGS solutions with zero critical production issues.
- High system availability and reduced operational incidents.
- Zero high or critical audit observations from regulatory or internal audits.
- Improved efficiency, scalability, and reliability of payment processing systems.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Minimum 6+ years of experience in the financial services or payments domain.
- Mandatory hands-on experience with NEFT and RTGS systems.
- Proven experience in leading and delivering large-scale or multi-year payment transformation programs.
- Strong understanding of payment lifecycle and schemes including NEFT, RTGS, IMPS, UPI, and SWIFT.
- Experience in solution design using microservices architecture, API integrations, and cloud adoption models.
- Working knowledge of SQL, Java fundamentals, and tools such as Jira and MS Project.
- Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements in the Indian banking sector.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- A postgraduate qualification is an added advantage.
