Job Description

As a Lead Process Engineer, you will supervise and lead a team of engineers under broad direction, providing technical guidance and overseeing employee performance. You will plan, budget, organize, and control a significant segment of a diversified engineering program or an entire program of moderate scope. This role is accountable for measurable assets such as assigned staff and budget while ensuring technical excellence in process design and execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop Process Design Basis and Design Philosophies aligned with project scope.
  • Perform and review process simulations; guide engineers in heat & mass balance development.
  • Develop and review PFDs, PSFDs, P&IDs, C&EDs, and safety charts.
  • Conduct routine process calculations (hydraulics, sizing) using process software and in-house spreadsheets.
  • Design and evaluate process control configurations, ESD systems, and equipment including separators, pumps, compressors, and gas treatment units.
  • Design engineering facilities including Fired Heaters, Heat Exchangers, and Columns.
  • Design and analyze utility systems: Steam, Instrument air, Plant air, Nitrogen, Fuel gas/oil, Cooling water, Chilled water, Potable water, DM water, and Wastewater.
  • Perform steam balance and compressor hydraulics calculations.
  • Carry out relief valve and flare load calculations.
  • Develop utility balances, UFDs, and summaries for all plant utilities.
  • Provide knowledge and input on offsites including tank farms, boilers, and power generation systems.
  • Ensure adherence to engineering practices, calculation methods, international standards, codes, specifications, and procedures.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate project execution, working with peers and subordinates across engineering departments.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to performance guarantees, vendor packages, and project scope.
  • Review vendor/consultant/licensor offers and prepare technical bid analyses.
  • Familiarity with routine safety studies like HAZOP, HAZID, SIL.
  • Support pre-commissioning, commissioning, and operations (preferred).
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports and documentation.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • 2022 years of relevant experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refinery, Offshore, or Utilities & Offsites projects.
  • Proficiency in process engineering software: HYSYS, Flarenet, Pipenet, Pipesim.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and report-writing skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of international standards, codes, and engineering best practices.
