Role Summary
The Spotlight Team Lead is accountable for leading a cross-functional analytics/BI delivery team to deliver roadmap outcomes on time and to agreed quality standards. This role acts as a servant leader (Scrum Master) for the team, partners closely with Product Management, Business Analysts, Architects and senior stakeholders, and ensures production issues and client requests are prioritised and resolved within reasonable timeframes.
About The Role

- Own the product area day-to-day, ensuring raised issues are triaged, prioritised, and addressed within agreed service timeframes.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to foster collaboration and a unified delivery approach.
- Apply general business and process knowledge to improve ways of working and support effective decision-making.
- Ensure timely delivery of maintenance and client-raised requests, coordinating support and communication as needed.

Position purpose
Provide delivery leadership for the Spotlight Analytics Team to ensure roadmap outcomes, operational support, and continuous improvement are delivered consistently, with appropriate governance, stakeholder engagement, and technical quality.
Key relationships
- Internal: Product Management, Business Analysts, Solution/Data Architects, Engineering/Platform teams, Operations/Support, and other Analytics delivery teams.
- Stakeholders: senior business stakeholders for the Spotlight product area and dependent domain owners.
- External (as required): clients and partners for escalations, requirements clarification, and 3rd-tier support.
Decision making authority
- Prioritisation and sequencing of team work within agreed roadmap and operational commitments.
- Delivery approach, sprint/release planning, and team ways of working (within organisational standards).
- Escalation of risks, resourcing constraints, and delivery trade-offs to relevant governance forums/leaders.
- Approval of production support triage outcomes and assignment of work across the team.
- Staff management of core Spotlight staff and contractors

- Roadmap delivery predictability (planned vs delivered), and adherence to agreed quality standards.
- Production support performance (time to triage, time to restore service, backlog health, and stakeholder communication).
- Team health and effectiveness (flow, continuous improvement outcomes, and engagement).
- Stakeholder satisfaction and clarity of expectations, including effective management of trade-offs.
Key Responsibilities
- Agree delivery scope, outcomes and acceptance criteria with stakeholders, and ensure delivery to agreed timelines and quality standards.
- Plan and direct team delivery activities, monitor progress, remove blockers, and take corrective action when required.
- Act as Scrum Master for the team, facilitating ceremonies and supporting continuous improvement.
- Help define, document, and communicate solutions that meet business and technical requirements.
- Partner with Product Management, Business Analysts, Architects and senior stakeholders to progress the product roadmap and translate it into actionable delivery goals.
- Use delivery planning and monitoring tools (e.g., TFS/Azure DevOps, AllStacks) and follow established software delivery and release processes.
- Apply project management practices (scope management, estimation, delegation and negotiation) to deliver outcomes; manage competing priorities and multiple workstreams concurrently.
- Provide day-to-day people and performance leadership for the team (coaching, delegation, feedback, and development), and contribute to resourcing and capability planning.

Required Skills & Experience
Delivery & leadership experience
- Demonstrated experience leading delivery for a cross-functional technical team (planning, execution, governance, and reporting).
- Agile delivery leadership experience (Scrum Master and/or iteration management) with a focus on flow and continuous improvement.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including expectation setting, negotiation of trade-offs, and clear written and verbal communication.
- Experience operating in an environment with production support responsibilities (triage, prioritisation, and incident/problem management).
Technical experience
- 5+ years experience in BI, data warehousing, ETL/ELT and data solutions including data modelling, analysis, solution design, development, and reporting.
- 5+ years experience on Microsoft BI Stack (SQL Server/SSIS/SSAS/SSRS).
- Proficiency in C# (or equivalent experience developing data platform services/tools).
- Hands-on knowledge of MDX and T-SQL.
- Experience in dimensional modelling / star schema design / slowly changing dimensions.
- Experience with command line interfaces (Windows CLI, PowerShell, etc.).
Other Requirements
- Availability to support critical production incidents outside standard hours when required (on-call/escalation arrangements to be confirmed).
- Adhere to organisational policies and standards (security, privacy, change management, and SDLC).
- Complete mandatory training and maintain required system access/clearances applicable to the role.
