Job Summary

The Team Lead, Software Engineer is responsible for leading the design, development, and delivery of Alternate Investment product solutions, with accountability for both technical execution and team performance. This role oversees a cross-functional engineering team responsible for building and maintaining applications that centralize and automate back-office operations, including trade settlement, reconciliation, compliance, and reporting.

The position combines hands-on technical leadership with people management, providing architectural guidance across full-stack technologies including .NET Core/C#, Python, React, distributed systems, and cloud-native platforms. The Team Lead ensures systems are scalable, secure, performant, and aligned with financial industry standards while driving modernization, technical debt reduction, and engineering best practices.

In addition to technical oversight, this role manages day-to-day team operations, mentors engineers, and fosters a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. The Team Lead partners closely with Product, QA, DevOps, and business stakeholders to translate functional requirements into reliable technical solutions, ensuring predictable, high-quality delivery aligned with organizational priorities.

The role also contributes to the evolution of engineering practices by promoting CI/CD adoption, observability, and the responsible use of AI-assisted development tools to enhance productivity and delivery excellence.

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

  • Lead the development of financial products, driving design, architecture, and implementation of core application features.
  • Provide technical direction across backend (.NET Core, distributed systems) and frontend (React, component libraries) technologies.
  • Champion the responsible use of GenAI-assisted coding tools (Cursor, GitHub Copilot) across the team to improve velocity.
  • Ensure systems are scalable, secure, performant, and compliant with financial standards.
  • Oversee integrations with APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures within the FO platform.
  • Apply best practices including SOLID principles, unit testing, and observability.
  • Reverse engineer and refactor legacy code to improve maintainability and extend functionality.
  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, GitHub Copilot) to increase team productivity.

Team Management & Delivery

  • Replace with: Provide technical leadership and coordinate day-to-day development activities for the engineering team, ensuring timely and high-quality deliveries.
  • Work with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to engineers; partner with the Engineering Manager on performance feedback and career development discussions.
  • Drive adoption of modern engineering practices, CI/CD, and cloud-native solutions.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with cross-functional teams including Product, QA, DevOps, and Operations.
  • Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment between business goals and technical execution.
  • Provide input into the strategic direction of FO application development, balancing innovation with delivery needs.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

  • Drive modernization initiatives, performance optimization, and technical debt reduction.
  • Leverage AI-powered development tools and automation frameworks to improve engineering efficiency.
  • Encourage adoption of emerging technologies where appropriate.



Requirements

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3+ years in a technical leadership or team lead role.
  • Strong familiarity with Gen AI-assisted coding tools (Cursor, GitHub Copilot).
  • Strong understanding of cloud environments (Azure or AWS) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
  • Strong full-stack expertise:
  • Backend: .NET Core / C#, Python, distributed systems, microservices, APIs, event-driven patterns.
  • Frontend: Kendo UI, Jquery, React, modern UI frameworks, component library design, state management.
  • Database: Strong experience with SQL Server (RDBMS) - query optimization, indexing, stored procedures, Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cosmos DB, etc.), Data modeling and performance optimization
  • Experience in financial systems, back-office automation, or enterprise platforms strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience with reverse engineering and refactoring legacy applications.
  • Excellent problem-solving, architectural thinking, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical initiatives and influence engineering teams.

Education/Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred
  • Fluent in both spoken and written English
