Position Summary

This position is ideal for individuals who have an interest in the Postproduction aspect of media. It requires a highly motivated individual with attention to detail to understand the requirements of the clients and transform the Digital Media asset accordingly. This means understanding the fundamental nature of the editing tools for modifying and transcoding tools to make the final deliverable. The individual needs to have great organizational skills and troubleshooting skills. If you have a passion for Media in the technical aspects (like codecs and formats) and if you get a drive-by solving Media related technical puzzles this position is for you. Work closely and collaborate with the Manager of Digital Production, organize, and develop the business/operations and assist in the overall daily administration of a diverse organization. Supervised Technical Production, overseeing Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 technicians who are responsible for the technical delivery of content. Provide day-to-day support and direction for the Tech with other departments and client services.

Outcomes and Accomplishments

As a Digital Production Technician Supervisor / Team Lead, you will:

  • Provide supervision, direction, and leadership for a variety of internal operational activities (including staff and process development, business management, and project management.
  • Will assist in supervising a technical department responsible for editing, standards converting, transcoding, and encoding video program material for subsequent releases.
  • Optimizing Technical workflows and procedures with guidance from Manager.
  • Direct coordination with departmental Technicians.
  • Representation of the Technical department to other Deluxe departments or facilities when needed.
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedure documentation for all workflows.
  • Availability for Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 Technical feedback or questions.
  • Will work on daily administration duties (examples include leading meetings, resolving Technical issues, and resolving human resource issues).
  • Oversee/Supervise all big launches. Ensure all support parties are engaged.
  • Logically analyze and fix failed technical images and identify how to avoid in future work processes.
  • Provide supervision, direction, and leadership for a variety of internal operational activities
  • Utilize and monitor the production database, inputting data as necessary to track progress.
  • Operation of computer systems with various operational tools and data management software.
  • Follow data management procedures to ensure all team members can access accurate and timely information on element status, location, and history.
  • Maintain an extensive, current, and accurate understanding of all work-in-progress initiated in the Technical department.
  • Must effectively analyze and communicate information to resolve issues and concerns as they arise.
  • Maintain a positive team relationship through both written and verbal communication, as well as accurately fulfilling needs and resolving problems accurately, on time, and with high quality.
  • Creation, maintenance, and distribution of standard operating procedure documentation.
  • Workflow analysis and optimization.
  • Creation, maintenance, and distribution of quality control documentation and policies.
  • Testing new tools, workflow procedures or processes before integration into the Technical department.

What You Bring:

  • Good knowledge of Office packages such as Word, Excel, etc.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • A keen interest in media postproduction is required.
  • Keen interest in working with different types of software and hardware is required.
  • Desire to learn new concepts and cross-train with other departments.
  • Excellent editing tools knowledge like Premiere Pro, and Final Cut Pro 7. Da Vinci Resolve is a plus
  • Efficiently utilize various audio and video production tools (audio/video tape machines, compression systems, encoders, decoders, converters, pre-processing systems, etc.).
  • Exposure to transcoding tools like Carbon coder Rhozet, SelenioFlex Digital Rapids, Vantage, and Hybrik is a plus.
  • To perform work order-based assignments at a high level of precision with an eye for technical details and content quality standards
  • A dedicated and well-rounded individual with the ability to work well under pressure as part of a team with tight deadlines.
