We are seeking a skilled and organized UK Personal Tax Return Preparer to join our team. This role involves preparing Self Assessment tax returns (SA100) for a diverse range of UK taxpayers, including landlords, self-employed individuals, and high net-worth individuals. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of UK tax regulations and be comfortable working under deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review UK Self Assessment (SA100) tax returns according to HMRC guidelines.
- Process and interpret various income sources, including employment income (P60, P45, P11D), self-employment income, property rental income, dividends, interest, capital gains, and pension income.
- Apply relevant allowances, reliefs, and deductions (e.g., personal allowance, rent-a-room, blind person's allowance).
- Liaise with UK teams to gather any missing information or clarifications.
- Maintain accurate records and working papers to support tax computations.
- Ensure compliance with HMRC deadlines and submission standards.
- Update client records and trackers using internal systems.
Requirements
- B.Com/M.Com/CA Inter/ACCA (part-qualified or similar qualification).
- 0–3 years of hands-on experience in preparing UK Self Assessment tax returns.
- Familiarity with HMRC rules, tax codes, and common allowances.
- Experience with UK tax software like TaxCalc, Iris, CCH, or BTC is preferred.
- Good communication skills in English (verbal and written).
- Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple returns during peak season.
- Willingness to work UK hours.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with UK accountancy firms or outsourcing teams.
- A basic understanding of UK residence/domicile rules and double taxation reliefs.
- Exposure to UK landlord taxation, capital gains on shares/property, and foreign income reporting.
Work Schedule
- Monday to Friday with alternative Saturdays.
- UK shift timings (typically 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM IST or 11:00 AM to 08:00 PM IST).
- Extended hours may be required during the UK tax season (November to January).
