What is the role:

We are seeking a Tax Manager to join our dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity to lead and contribute to critical US individual tax operations, support client engagements, and help strengthen tax compliance processes. The position is based in Bangalore or Udupi, Karnataka, and leverages 8-12 years of experience in US tax returns, international information reporting, and tax compliance.

What you would do:

  • Reviewing US Individual & Business tax returns Form 1040, 1040NR, including state income tax filings.
  • Solely handle mid-complex to complex returns.
  • Ability to find out the most optimal tax for the clients.
  • Knowledge on International information reporting (FBAR, FATCA, Form 8621, 3520, 3520A, 5471, 8865, etc)
  • Understand the clients filing requirements depending on their tax scenario and help clients with 100% compliance as per the rules.
  • Solid understanding of the US tax implications for Individual tax filing.
  • Researching, analyzing, and interpreting changing tax rules.
  • Explaining the different tax laws to clients and helping them understand their legal obligations and adapt to changes in tax legislation.
  • Representing Clients in front of the IRS for tax matters with a proper POA.
  • Involvement with consultancy and research projects.
  • Regular contribution to in-house training meetings/management group meetings on technical topics
  • Supervising Tax Assistants, in conjunction with managers, and contributing to their career development
  • Added advantage for people working in Drake / Lacerate tax software.

Delivery Management:

  • Responsible for extensive client leads and managing the same end-to-end (data gathering, validation, client clarifications, review, delivery of returns, and billing).
  • Management of each client's tax compliance with setting up the right expectation for the work scope to be performed and the delivery timeline.
  • Recognition of complex client issues and effective communication of those to the Manager / Director and the client at the appropriate time.
  • Taking responsibility for all compliance processes and monitoring the various filing requirements.
  • Making sure that there are no client escalations and that the preparers properly follow the tax return processes.
  • Active involvement in building client relationships.
  • Full involvement in the billing process & client follow-ups.
  • Go overboard in finishing the tasks within deadlines and making sure that the entire team is driven to perform within deadlines.

  • Strong communication, customer service management, and presentation skills.
  • Must be able to demonstrate multitasking capacity
  • Strong analytical and technical research skills

  • Capability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

  • Must take the ownership/bottom line for the work performed by the team
