Role Overview
This position supports Ankura Business Services, our internal firm services function. The Tax Manager role is a key position within the Global Ankura Accounting team, reporting to the Finance Controller. This role is primarily focused on managing tax work for entities across EMEA and APAC, including both direct and indirect taxes along with transfer pricing. Ankura implements a flexible hybrid model, where employees work in the office around three days a week, with the adaptability to accommodate international needs.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate tax operations across EMEA and APAC regions, ensuring alignment with global tax objectives while supporting local finance managers in each region. Countries include: UK, Germany, UAE, KSA, China, Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia.
- Lead tax audits, compliance reviews, and inspections for entities, acting as the primary liaison with external advisor and tax authorities, ensuring that all processes are completed and filed promptly.
- Prepare annual corporation tax filings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant local and international tax standards.
- Prepare indirect tax filings including but not limited to VAT and Withholding Tax, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant local and international tax standards.
- Assist consultants with all VAT and withholding tax related questions, providing expert guidance and ensuring clarity and compliance with applicable tax regulations.
- Manage month-end close processes related to tax, guaranteeing timely and precise completion of all tax-related activities.
- Oversee and manage all aspects of transfer pricing compliance, ensuring comprehensive documentation for each entity is produced efficiently and adheres to all relevant regulations and standards in each jurisdiction.
- Support Finance Director with tax costs for cashflow, ensuring accurate and strategic financial planning and analysis.
- Manage and mentor team members, fostering their professional growth and development.
- Ensure the operation and maintenance of a strong control environment that safeguards tax integrity.
- Identify and implement improvements for inefficient tax processes, utilising standardisation and automation through technology to enhance efficiency.
Requirements
- Qualified CA/CTA (or equivalent) with at least 5+ years of post-qualification experience, with a focus on tax.
- Experience in inspections and compliance is essential.
- Experience in working in a global organisation in a multicurrency environment.
- Experience in the professional services sector preferred.
- Strong understanding of international tax principles and financial concepts.
- Experience in both direct and indirect tax is essential.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience of working in a complex environment, delivering to deadlines, and managing conflicting priorities.
- Self-motivated, organised, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
- Use of Workday Financials would be an advantage but not required.
