Role Summary
The Tax Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of Indian direct tax and transfer pricing (TP) for the Aumovio Group in India. The role ensures full compliance with the Income Tax Act, Transfer Pricing Regulations, and related statutory requirements, while driving tax-efficient structures, managing litigation, supporting business transactions, and partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to manage tax risks. The role also contributes to strategic tax planning and supports global tax reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Domestic Taxation (Direct Tax)
- Review and manage end-to-end corporate income tax compliance, including advance tax, tax provisioning, return filing, and assessments.
- Review and finalize tax audit reports, Form 3CD, and related statutory deliverables.
- Ensure accurate computation of taxable income, MAT/AMT, WDV reconciliations, tax provisions, and deferred tax positions.
- Support on tax assessments, enquiries, departmental representations, and manage interactions with tax authorities, tax consultants and Group tax teams
- Oversee withholding tax applicability on domestic and cross-border payments, including DTAA positions.
- Evaluate tax implications on business contracts, supply chain models, and operational decisions.
- Support tax provisioning for statutory audits, internal audits, and group tax accounting reporting.
- Responsible for month tax reporting as per requirement and managing ETR for the group in India
- Responsible for tax compliance in India for foreign group entities in alignment with the central tax team and external tax advisers.
2. Transfer Pricing (TP)
- Oversee the full TP compliance cycle, including:
- Master File, Local File, CBCR notifications
- Transfer Pricing Audit Report (Form 3CEB)
- Develop and maintain inter-company pricing policies aligned with OECD and Indian regulations in line with group tax policies.
- Drive benchmarking studies, FAR analyses, and economic analysis for related-party transactions.
- Coordinate with group tax teams on cross-border transaction planning, restructuring, and documentation.
- Manage transfer pricing audits, litigation, and defense strategies against adjustments.
3. Tax Planning & Advisory
- Evaluate tax-efficient structures for new products, supply chain arrangements, financing models, and business expansions.
- Advise business teams on tax clauses in commercial contracts.
- Conduct periodic tax risk assessments, identify exposures, and implement mitigation plans.
- Provide strategic inputs on budget changes, new circulars, and judicial precedents.
4. Litigation Management
- Overall review on the pending matters pending with CIT(A), DRP ITAT, and High Court and providing strategic direction for winning the litigation.
- Coordinate with external tax counsel, advisors, and internal stakeholders.
- Track open litigation, maintain risk registers, and drive closure.
- Forecasting and managing tax outflow for the entities and ensure timely refunds from tax authorities in India
5. Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with finance, FP&A, legal, supply chain, and business teams on tax-sensitive transactions.
- Work closely with group tax functions where needed and support group tax reporting, global TP policies, and cross-border transactions.
- Provide training to internal teams on tax compliance and regulatory changes.
6. Process Improvement & Governance
- Implement best practices in tax processes, documentation, and controls.
- Lead system enhancements for tax reporting, automation, and ERP-related tax configurations.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, including SOX/ICFR, where applicable
Required Skills and Competencies
Technical Skills
- Strong command of Indian direct tax law, transfer pricing regulations, and case law.
- In-depth knowledge of OECD TP Guidelines, BEPS developments, and global TP frameworks.
- Experience in tax litigation management, drafting submissions, and appearing before tax authorities.
- Proficiency in tax provisioning, financial statements, and accounting for direct taxes.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems—SAP and tax tools.
- Experience in tax schedules preparation to the satisfaction of the auditors
