About the role
Allegion India is seeking a highly motivated Software Systems Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing team of Software Engineers and Interaction/UI Designers. In this role, you will be responsible for driving Allegion's next-generation IoT software connecting electromechanical locks and access control systems. You will provide both people and technical leadership, ensuring the growth of the Software Systems Engineering competency within the Global Software Services (GSS) organization while overseeing the integration of user-centric design into our technical ecosystems.
What you'll do
People Leadership:
Lead, coach, and mentor a team of Software Systems Engineers and a small team of Interaction/UI Designers in Bangalore. Manage performance, career development, and resource allocation. Build a culture of trust and inclusivity within your team. Bring people together by collaborating across organizations and ensuring a transparent, accountable work environment. Proactively identify and remove roadblocks to success. Support organizational change and maintain an open-door policy, willing to listen to and implement new ideas.
Competency Building: Strengthen the Systems Engineering competency in GSS by striving for continuous improvement, demonstrating initiative, and inspiring the team through innovation and creativity in collaboration with software systems competency leader.
Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance to software systems engineers in eliciting, decomposing, and managing
complex technical requirements for IoT and access control products.
Design Integration: Oversee the UI/UX design workflow, ensuring seamless collaboration between designers and software systems engineers to deliver intuitive and technically sound user interfaces. Driving design to code approach using AI.
Project Oversight: Coach team on Technical Design Reviews, identify program risks, and lead the definition of Operations Concepts and review ICD's (Interface control documents)
Strategic Collaboration: Partner with product management, architecture, and security teams to provide high-level estimates and inform business decisions.
Scope Management: Lead the management of technical scope throughout the entire development lifecycle.
What we are looking for
Proven Leadership: Demonstrated experience in people management, including hiring, mentoring, and developing technical talent.
Domain Expertise: At least 8 years experience in IoT devices, access control, or similar complex industries (Automotive, Aerospace, Medical).
Systems Mastery: Deep experience in Systems Engineering processes (design by requirements, traceability, V&V).
Design Literacy: Ability to manage and provide direction to Interaction and UI Designers, understanding how design impacts system architecture.
Project Management: Strong skills in planning, stakeholder management, risk mitigation, and change management.
Communication: Ability to bridge the gap between business leaders, technical engineers, and creative designers.
Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with cybersecurity protocols, cloud architectures (AWS/Azure), and mobile SDKs.
Experience
15 to 20 Years of industry experience and 5+ years in Software Systems Engineering.
Preferred Skills
Experience working in IoT , Bluetooth and Wi-Fi based product development and capabilities.
Education
BE or M.Tech in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field
Preferred credentials:
Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP)
Expert Systems Engineering Professional (ESEP)
