The System Engineer, IT/OT Integration is responsible for installing, commissioning, and supporting integrated IT and OT environments within regulated life sciences manufacturing operations. The role combines hands on industrial systems implementation, secure infrastructure integration, automation scripting, and technical documentation to ensure stable and compliant production environments.
The position requires close collaboration with technical teams, business stakeholders, and project delivery groups to support reliable plant connectivity and digital manufacturing initiatives.
Core Responsibilities
System Installation & Integration
- Install, commission, and support IT/OT solutions and associated enterprise applications within production environments.
- Configure and maintain secure OT to IT communication flows ensuring operational reliability, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance.
- Support deployment and integration of industrial and enterprise platforms across manufacturing systems.
Industrial Connectivity & Automation
- Connect and integrate industrial platforms such as Ignition, HiveMQ, and where relevant HighByte Intelligence Hub.
- Configure industrial communication protocols including OPC UA, MQTT, BACnet, and Modbus.
- Support historian connectivity and OT data exchange with enterprise systems.
Scripting & Operational Support
- Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot automation scripts in UNIX shell and Windows environments.
- Support operational automation activities and routine system administration tasks.
- Assist with issue resolution, system performance monitoring, and operational continuity.
Database & Data Management
- Install, configure, and support SQL and NoSQL database environments.
- Perform database queries, schema support, and integration activities across connected systems.
- Enable reliable access to production and historian data.
Architecture & Documentation
- Contribute to system architecture design and technical implementation planning.
- Prepare and maintain installation guides, integration diagrams, system documentation, and operational runbooks.
- Work with enterprise architecture documentation standards and relevant tooling.
Soft Skills

Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience
- 5 to 10 years of experience in industrial systems engineering, IT/OT integration, or manufacturing technology environments.
- Experience in life sciences, regulated manufacturing, or industrial automation is highly desirable.
