Transactional Data Movement, a part of Transactional Storage and Configuration (TSC) organization, is a service empowering Amazon Stores, Devices, and other businesses (SDO) to replicate, synchronize, and transfer data across DynamoDB and Sable storage solutions and regions. Its primary objectives are to enable the safe movement of transactional data, reduce builder effort for data movement, and bolster region flexibility, which are all critical for advancing the next generation of data-driven services. The Storage Data Movement Service (SDMS), via Globemaster and Hotwire sub-services, provides zero-downtime global data migration and replication for Sable and DynamoDB datasets. The Managed Migration eXperience (M2X), a control plane service coupled with a data analytics platform (M2X Analytics), provides service owners the ability to programmatically coordinate data migrations and traffic routing across teams, applications, and datasets.
These tools are/will be used to migrate, replicate, or recreate more than 1M Sable and DynamoDB tables. These tables represent 260M transactions per second at peak and 30PB of data used by 10,000 applications. Additionally, they will move millions of active S3 buckets, representing an additional 2EB+ of data as part of Region Flexibility and Diversify AWS Region Usage (DARU) programs by 2029.
Key job responsibilities
- Design and implement robust data movement architectures that enable flexible regional service operations
- Develop sophisticated infrastructure tools and applications to enhance system efficiency and reliability
- Collaborate with stakeholders to create comprehensive solutions that mitigate potential service disruptions
- Create and maintain scalable infrastructure that supports critical business functions
- Proactively identify and resolve potential system vulnerabilities before they impact service performance

- Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting infrastructure
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
- Experience with Linux/Unix
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field
- Knowledge of distributed systems design and implementation or equivalent
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
