About the Role
Job Title: System Administrator
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain servers, networks, and system software (Windows, Linux).
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues related to hardware, software, network, and security.
- Manage Active Directory, Group Policies, DNS, DHCP, and user account administration.
- Perform routine system backups, patch management, and disaster recovery planning/testing.
- Maintain and upgrade IT infrastructure including physical and virtual environments (VMware, Hyper-V).
- Ensure compliance with security policies, implement antivirus, firewalls, and system hardening procedures.
- Automate administrative tasks using scripts (e.g., PowerShell, Bash).
- Provide Tier 2/3 support to internal teams and escalate unresolved issues to vendors or higher-level support.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 35 years of experience in a System Administrator or similar role.
- Proficiency in Windows Server, Linux (Ubuntu/CentOS/RHEL), and virtualization platforms.
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory, file systems, network protocols, and IT security best practices.
- Experience with backup tools, monitoring systems (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix), and ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira).
- Good troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently or in a team environment.
Desirable Skills
- Certifications such as MCSA/MCSE, CompTIA Linux+/Server+, RHCSA, or VMware VCP.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and hybrid infrastructure.
- Familiarity with DevOps tools (Ansible, Puppet, Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of email systems (Exchange, Office 365) and identity providers (SSO, SAML, OAuth).
- Exposure to compliance frameworks (ISO, NIST, GDPR).
Education Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
