System Admin/Desktop Engineer II (Splunk)

Duties:

• The role in question is a Mid-Level Splunk Administrator.
• This role is pivotal for the daily operational management of our Splunk environment, including handling access control, configuration updates, data onboarding, and ensuring overall platform hygiene.
• The administrator will need to ensure that Splunk apps, indexes, and data flows function seamlessly, while also assisting with basic troubleshooting and verification tasks.
• The responsibilities will include managing and troubleshooting permission issues, maintaining user roles and access, and deploying Splunk apps and configurations.
• The role also involves maintaining and validating .conf entries, working with customers on data requirements and storage, and ensuring the health of data flows.
• Additionally, the administrator will need to assist in identifying long-running or inefficient searches and support routine maintenance activities.

Skills:

• The ideal candidate should be proficient with Linux CLI and basic Linux system troubleshooting, have an understanding of networking fundamentals, be able to work directly with customers and application owners, and be familiar with configuration management and distributed system behavior.
• Attention to detail and the ability to verify operational correctness across multiple components are also crucial.

Education:

• Relevant certification and/or proven experience in system administration and splunk power user or Splunk platform management
