SUT Senior Associate

Role Summary

• Lead and manage Sales & Use Tax (SUT) compliance engagements end-to-end.
• Support engagement workflow, team coordination, and stakeholder communication.
• Guide onboarding of new BDO USA clients and update the team on SUT changes.
• Champion process improvements, training initiatives, and efficiency enhancements.
• Comfortable with repetitive tasks, focused on accuracy and attention to detail.
• Play a supervisory role and foster open, growth-oriented communication within the team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (required).
• Master's degree in Accounting beneficial; Master's in Taxation preferred.

Experience

• 6+ years of experience in Sales and Use Tax Compliance.
• Proven ability to manage full compliance cycles from data retrieval to filing, payments, and reconciliation.
• Skilled in state-specific nuances and incorporating them into workflows.
• Experience in handling client communication (internal & external) effectively.

Technical Skills

• Proficient with:
• Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Power Query, Access.
• Vertex or similar SUT applications.
• Familiarity with:
• Alteryx, database software (preferred).
• E-filing, EDI, ACH Debit/Credit, Anybill.
